Command and Conquer: Tiberian Twilight. All over it.

Name registered and all, but no talk of production of the game...

It can be anything, they maybe hadn't even started on the game. Heck maybe they won't start until next year... if at all.

I could be something cancalled too...

Approximately one week ago, the registration for Square-Enix's "Chrono Break" expired. Furthermore, it seems that said corporation has no intentions of developing a Chrono game anytime soon. Disappointing, but not altogher surprising news.

Which I knew already...just trying to see if there is anything new...anything at all...

Square Enix has abandoned its trademark Chrono Break with the US Patent and Trademark Office. However, the status of the trademark Chrono Brake, which has been registered by the company at the Japan Patent Office remains unchanged.
The two differently worded trademarks have resulted in a lot of speculation and hope among many fans for a third installment of what is arguably one of Square Enix's most popular RPG series. After the completion of Final Fantasy XI, scenario writer and Chrono series mastermind Masato Katou quit the company to become a freelance writer, most recently lending his talents to MonolithSoft and Namco's Baten Kaitos.

Sad news rolls of Square-Enix today. It seems that the game publisher has let go of it's US trademark for the name Chrono Break. It would now seem very unlikely that they are still planning on making the game. Interestingly though, they're still holding on to their Japanese trademark for Chrono Break.

Perhaps the US is simply getting the game under a diffrent name? We don't know. And with Masato Katou having left Square-Enix, we may not know for quite some time.

Yea...so it's still not looking good....

And that's been the same since Novemember of last year.

I read on a Japanese site a while ago that Square-Enix had signed some contract with Nintendo for the production of some Unlimited Saga game and a game from the Chrono Series for the GBA. We'll just have to wait and see, maybe after a while a new one will come for real.

I never saw that confirmed on any American sites so I'd guess it's a rumor.

Some sort of Chrono Trigger DX game for the GBA would be sweeeeet though. Add in some extra areas/plotlines/endings/etc. and it would be worth going through a second time.

oh, and Anya,a ny idea what went wrong with square to make them cancel (or almost cancel, or whatever) this project? I was actualy kinda looking forward to it...

No, there isn't a God. Didn't you play Unlimited SaGa? It made me try to kill myself.

Imajin - Xenosaga to Xenogear has been pretty groovey. Same as the Mario RPGs.

Even though they took down Chrono Break in North America, Chrono Brake is still there in Japan. Either it's only going to be a little something in Japan, or they'll be calling it Chrono Brake in North America as well.

I hope, if they fdo make another Chrono game, they go back to time travel... Chrono Cross was good and all, but CT was much beter, and one reason was because there were a whole bunch of different worlds you could visit...

Most likely rumors, I've heard this game will never happen. I do hear though that "they" plan on making another Chrono game sometime.

Whatever that means though.

What exactly went wrong?

Square likely wouldn't announce anything along those lines until TGS anyways. I think they have their hands full with FFXII and DQ8 at the moment. And maintaining the FFXI servers.

Yeah, hope it isn't cancelled. From what I heard, Janus from CT was supposed to be the main character who you start out with. Could have just been some rumor though.

Square Enix dropped the Chrono Break thing in the US, or so I'v eheard...

That might mean that the S-E merger killed CB... I hope not, the Chrono series has been verygood so far

mm, I guess they need to stand stronger financially before they'll make another chrono game. Hopfully in a combi pack with the other two games for the poor Europian players

People suggested the ringtone/minigame really recently in this rumour.

But remember, Square has also reserved the titles of Final Fantasy up until 16 or something like that.

I bet that they're just getting all the titles they can.

((as mentioned a little bit in another thread, so we're just making one nice thread for it now))

I'm not even sure when this news hit the fan, or if it ever did, but a few years ago, Square got the rights for a title known as Chrono Break. At the time, and even today, we have no idea what it is. Of course, everyone jumped the gun and said it was the newest RPG in the Chrono series, while some said it's a ring tone or a mini game for a phone.

Well, a few things went wrong with Square, and it's looking highly doubtful that this title will ever become a game.
