My NES doesn't have a vertical stripe, so either the previous owner got that fixed, or not all of them have it. Either way, hooray for me!

I happen to have my NES hooked up right now, let me check my adapter (which is the official one. )

Input: 120v 60Hz 17W
Output: AC9V 1.3A

And now you know.

This is for use with the NTSC nes.

Also, NSNick, I'm looking for someone who has figured out how to fix the vertical stripe problem that all toploader NES's have. So far, there doesn't seem to be anyone who has successfully found a universal fix for it, short of sending it to Nintendo to have them replace the PPU (which they WILL do. They're so cool like that. )

Anyway, getting back on topic...

Power adapter.

There, that gets us back on track.

I can't seem to find it at this exact moment, but I know I still have one, and I will search for it tomorrow. If an answer isn't given by this time Saturday, and I find it, I'll let ya know.

I think some people are getting the power adapter and the TV cable mixed up. If I remember right the power for NES was different than SNES. The TV cable for SNES works on NES. It also works on N64 and GCN.

If its DC, then you have nothing to worry about. Polarity does not matter in this case. Even if it did, i have never fried my NES from having the wrong polarity.

Genesis parts are interchangeable with Atari 2600 parts, curiously enough, as well as SNES parts, I believe. Not A/V cables, but AC Adaptors.

Here's an odd one; Genesis and 2600s both use the same controller port. This meant I was able to play Genesis games with the 2600 stick and 2600 games with a Genesis controller. That was pretty neat, IMO.

While we're discussing adaptors, anyone know the specs for the Genesis AC adaptor? I managed to come across two Genesii (first and second versions) and only one has an adaptor. Also, the first edition one has a Sega CD strapped to it and that doesn't have an adaptor either. And I believe the first edition (or maybe the second) has a broken RF switch: the plug on the console's end is missing. What can I get to replace it (and preferably something with A/V plugs)?

I know that there are multi-adapters out there. I had one about ten years ago and used it for my gameboy and keyboard. it came with different sized plugs and the bulk of it had a slider dial to dictate the voltage (or whatever). I don't remember it's name, but I'm certain that there are dozens of name brand versions of it.

9v DC? OK, cool. I'm sure I can scrounge one up around here. And if not around my house, then Radio Shack.

You need ANYTHING with an output of 9vDC. Most Telephone Answering Machines use the same plug end, and use 9vDC.

Cymoro, Im surprised your system doesnt quit on you when youre playing. You should use a 9vDC output. It will run more smoothly.

Yeah, the sega genesis ones are save to use, even though theyre 10VDC output as well. Just dont go any higher than that. Also, if you look for it on google, you can mod your NES to use a computer power cord quite easily.

I use the Sega Genesis adapter for my NES.

It physically fits and surprisingly... it works as well as a standart NES adapter!

(I got both consoles, US versions)

Googie: Is that 9v DC?

Cy: You mean 120 in, right? And AC? Are you sure?

I bought an adapter years ago back at Radio Shack, it was a 9 Volt adapter.

...wierd.

I know for sure that the SNES and NES can be interchangable. But then I have the European consoles...

That may be, but the SNES adapter plug won't physically fit into my NES.

Ok!

I'm sure though. If you got the SNES adaptor you can surely use it. Otherwise I would try Ebay.
