Thnaks for the help. Assembling this title screen boarder was hard work, so I will troubleshoot my way through it trying to find out which tiles I overwrite. I will use just a regular rom with correct tiles, because I dont want to mess up this one.

The "holes" in your title screen border are a result of the "MARIO A . . ." etc. text overwriting part of the border with a blank tile. The only way to fix it would be to either shrink your border, or find the code in the ROM that draws the text and shorten it by one tile (or replace the blank tile with the correct border piece and palette). Unfortunately, I have no idea where that's located, as it's been a long time since I hacked the title screen.

Actually, it should be relatively easy to correct. Just pull up a fresh copy of the ROM and take the GFX file from there. Sure, you lose whatever work you did since then, but that's the price you pay for not using backups.

Best way to fix what you did is to trial and error your GFX changes... I accidentally did it once too and it was not fun to correct .

Im thinking it might be the tiles around the little star... but Im not TOTALLY sure.

What Kratos says is more or less correct. You can get away with using some Layer 3 graphics if you aren't using them for anything else, plus anything from the title screen that you aren't saving is up for grabs.

You should only use what Nintendo used for the title screen letters and border, and nothing more. The rest is all used; clearly you overwrote the world map border, which is in the same file. Same thing happened to me; I mistook it for a border to a letter. I updated the graphics list (which is buried really far down now, heh ) with it, too. As for the peach yellow, yes, it's just a palette change. Not sure where, however, though if you want I could look. As for the pressing start then pressing start again getting those white things to show up, I have no idea.

Okay, I ripped a new title screen boarder and when I went into my game, some graphics were glitchy. Here are some shots:

First off, here is the title screen, palettes are still being worked out. I circled the problems over to the right. They are only there when I press start and then press atart again. How do I fix this?

And then even worse, This is messed up!! How do I fix this? Also, the ugly peach yellow color of the boarder..how do I change this? I have seen it blue before, is it just a palette change?

Here are the graphics that messed these thigs up. Did I accidentally overwrite a graphic that I needed to keep? If so which one? I have compared it to an unedited one but cant find any difference.
