As for people being rude and saying your hacks suck: some of us aren't going to sugar coat what we think of bad projects. I think it's bad to encourage poor hack development, but everyone has to start somewhere, as long as progression is made as time goes on, you should be fine, but if a few people tell you your hacks blow, don't ignore them, pay attention to what they say and try to improve the areas you're weakest in (unless what they say is complete bull).
Of course, this is all assuming you care what people think of your hack, otherwise what would be the point of releasing a hack publicly  |

I will tell my brother to shut up, and, yes, he has given his account away to escape from your rath. He said, 'I don't like anybody in acmlms board cause they are so mean to me.' I seriously think he's lying, cause all he does is say my ROM hacks are idiotic, moronic, and all-out worthless, except not that intellegently. ...Well, Being that my freakin space bar is pretty much stuck for some reason, I will end this.... But,just for fun, you should get a screen shot of sapphire or ruby or megamen of whatever,copy it, then alter the picture with paint...It's quite enjoyable. |

Or you try to find patterns as I did. 
It actually did work, I quickly found the level data. I did corrupt thought manually wih a hex editor. (writing random crap in the suspicous area)
The game was snake rock and roll. I hadn't hacked it in long time, but I quickly figure out how that game worked. If I had the lust I would make a hack or even a editor. |

I'm into Megaman hacking, and am NOT a noob. I have only one finished hack, but I honestly say to you, I have grown strong because of it. But I'm no expert either. I don't know a thing about hex editing, and I think experts would have to know some hex editing to be real experts. (Oops, hope I didn't offend anyone...)
Oh, and Squash Monster... anyone who has created a Rom hacking editor is pretty darn good. Wasn't it you who made a YI editor recently?
Off the subject. I guess I'm an in-betweener, an Intermediate of sorts. Either that or an Advanced. |

All that I do is using level-making programs and have fun.
I should try some hex, but it's sounding more and more complex after each message I read. |

I considered myself a complete newbie a month ago, and now people list me along the likes of FuSoYa (they're nuts though, I'm not near that good).
Hacking is pretty easy, if you're good at experimenting. All that's needed to be a pretty good hacker is some determination, a hex editor, a corrupter, and, eventually, someone to explain how pointers work.
Just plug away at a ROM with a corrupter untill you've found the level data, then work with it untill you find the start of it. Experiment in a hex editor to figure out the format, and figure out how to convert the adress in the ROM into one for the system you're working with. Search for that value, and you'll find a pointer table, which should tell you where to find all the level data in tha game.
Which is pretty spiffy, since a lot of hackers can't seem to get even that far.
Most importantly though, just be polite, try to figure things out for yourself before asking questions, don't be afraid to ask questions, and always keep your writing precise and understandable (we deal with complex stuff sometimes, and it really helps to keep the explanations as clear, thorough, and simple as they can be).

Lots of people here have basically dabbled in hacking... Some with more success than others obviously. I'd still say a good 50% (minimum) of the users here have never touched rom hacking though.

I'm pretty much a newbie at this crap... Oh, well. My brother, MetalBlueKirby, usually says things like, 'your roms suck!' and all, but I'm quite fond of it... I hate hows he's so seriously rude sometimes... And strict..... And acts like a dictator of some sort... Thinking he can-- Oops! Well, anyway, is there anyone that's new at the hacky crud stuff??
