Aw, we didn't see that on CBC... Canada running around with our flag as usual, yes, but nothing that shocking.

Must have been to the pre-ceremony party.

Nice to see Craig Miller (Aussie water polo player) drop his pants during the closing ceremony party and be hauled off by security.

I love this country...

CBC had Olympic coverage on 4 networks - CBC, TSN, SRC (French CBC) and RDS (French TSN).

As for news highlights, CTV and Global could only show still images. However, our local CTV news could show video as their sports highlights are partially done by TSN.

oh, vid cap...

anyways, who in Canada brought the Olympics? It is because of NBC's monopoly no video footage was released to any of the other major networks (including ESPN) in the US.

If something's capped, then it was captured on a video capture card and put into .avi format or something.

heh...well, there are a few times the media is a positive influence...but then again, maybe the fault is on us because it is us, the general population, they are geared towards...

and colin, what do you mean by "capped"?

I'm not ashamed of the athlete themsleves. More like I'm ashamed of the people who were putting too much pression on their shoulders (Medias, etc). I hate 'em

It won't be on anymore, I don't think. Doubt that they'll replay events 4-5 days later.

I'm SURE it'll be capped and put online at some point.

I was leaving for work and I tend to leave the TV on for the cats..and I was about to leave, when I heard a familar score...and I was like, HOLY SHIT!!!

I missed about half of it, but I've been trying to catch it later-late night and I end up staying up until 4am..or 5.

...Ashamed? I don't see a reason to be ashamed with the athletes... Now, there may be others who should be blamed.

Winter's totally different than summer, there's no use comparing medal totals.

We should do better in the next Winter Olympics. Because I'm currently ashamed of some people.

And Canada only made... 12. That's one of our worst performances ever - I hesitate to say our worst because to our credit, we had a ton of personal bests and top 8 finishes.

But we need to do a lot of work... Athletics Canada and Swim Canada both need to have their houses cleaned out.

Nice to see the US made its 100 medals, in spite of (Well, partially because of) the lackluster play of Captain Ballhog and the Gimme Gimme Crew throughout these Olympics.

At this point they're just gonna have to take it, like it, and listen to Bill Simmons next time.

And now I wanna be an Olympian.

(Too bad the only thing I was good enough to even try out for when high school rolled around is volleyball, and I'm a wee bit short for that on this level... and I'm 5'10". )

...Like they're happy that they won that particular color.

Canada's up to 12... *IF* we do really well in wrestling tomorrow, we can finish with 14 and match Sydney. *prays*

USA/Brazil was a good soccer game as well. The States looked good at times but Brazil really deserved the win - shame that they managed to hit the post a couple of times.

Good stuff today. I got introduced to handball. (I've heard of it, but never actually seen it before.)

And a great womens soccer match between Germany and Sweden. I didn't see the last few minutes, but I imagine that Germany won seeings how they were on top the whole game. Nothing against Sweden's skills though, Germany had a kick ass goalie. And the Swedish uniforms were great. They matched their flag quite nicely.

It's kind of sad that the olympics are going to end soon (this years, that is). It's the only chance I really get to see good soccer games. Hell, it's the only chance I get to watch soccer at all. Short of the WC that is which is always played in the states.

Then I saw some synchronized swimming. Not really my thing, but I'll admit it must be challenging.

Then it was on to field hockey between the Netherlands and Germany. The Dutch were the heavy favorites but Germany pulled off a huge upset and took the gold. Very entertaining match up that was real close.

Yeah, we rock. I always love those "medals per capita" comparisions

And last night's semi was the first baseball game I've ever seen. As I've mentioned here before, I'm a cricket fan who's been intrigued by baseball recently. It was a really good contest and I thoroughly enjoyed it even if I didn't understand every detail.

And if we beat Cuba, Australia becomes THE WORLD POWER OF BASEBALL>>>TREMBLE>>>

Even though Jana is up herself, I'll be cheering at 4:55am AEST.

Lastly, yeah, the rowing debacle did this make a mention in any other country? The Aussie who gave up in the women's 8's? It sucked all around...

Carlos Moya is Spanish, and he got beaten by the Chilean, Nicolas Massu. He ended up taking gold and the other Chilean, Fernando Gonzalez, took Bronze.

Also:

Australia has 14 golds, 9 silvers and 14 bronzes. Once we handicap for population to bring them to parity with the US - we find that if Australia had the same population as America, we'd have 196 Golds, 126 Silvers and 196 Bronzes, for a total of 518 medals!

Glad to see the team doing so well off-shore. Pity about the rowing disappointments but our cyclists are rocking the velodrome something fierce.

Australia v Cuba for the baseball gold tonight, and I think Jana Pittman is running for gold int he 400m hurdles.
