Er, I just checked YTV's homepage and see no mention of any of these. Just when are they supposed to start?

I have one thing to say about the title of this topic. Although Canada is FINALLY getting good anime on TV, we've had a prety good translation group based in Canada since Gundam Wing.

Ocean Group in Vancouver.

I think they started with Gundam Wing and Endless Waltz, then did Zoids and Inuyasha. Although, in my mind, they could use more voice actors.

I dare say that it's kinda stupid to buy dubbed stuff if you don't like dubs. I liked the one Swedish DB manga I read.. scanlations seem to be more accurate most of the time though.

Here's what airs on TV in Norway:
Pokemon
Digimon
Beyblade
Hamtaro
Medabots (I think)

Yeah. At least we get some decent manga. (For those who wonder: Dragon Ball, Detective Conan, Ranma, Blade of the Immortal, Love Hina, Chobits and GTO)

That

I managed to get a cheap DVD player and use a code to unlock it. Ah, the joys of working in retail!

Incidentally, we're on Region 2... The same as Japan and Australia.

I have imported the following titles:

Ranma 1/2 Series 3
Ranma 1/2 OAVs (pirate)
Trigun (pirate)
Tenchi Muyo (pirate)

That's pretty much how far my money has gotten me so far. University put a cap on most of it, but Ranma 1/2 third series was just last week.

nope, Europe is a different DVD region than the US. And a universal DVD player is expensive, if I'm not wrong.

About downloading vs owning anime, I think it's a bit of a mixed bag.
At our new connection, we can download an episode at 15-20 minutes if it goes well. The fantranslations usually make more sense than the official ones (if they even get subbed instead of dubbed) and I'd say those translating teams have the right to speak about dedication; they don't get paid for sharing new anime with idiots like me who just quit learning Japanese
Add to that that I've yet to find a store that sells any anime DVD, and even if I will, the price of an anime DVD compared to a regular DVD is insane. It was like that in Belgium, and I doubt it'll be different here.
(ex: my SE Lain DVD costed me 45 Euro, I bought it when I was going to uni, SE Lain was atleast 5 years old then, if not older. The most expensive movie DVD I own is a special edition of The Crow, which costed me 30 Euro when I bought it, within the first week of release. Now tell me again why I should buy anime instead of just downloading it? I will definately buy certain series if they ever make their way here and I can afford it, but untill then, I'm going to watch my fansubs.)

Can I ask you a question?

Um, does the anime(on dvd, of course) in the U.S. the same DVD region as that in teh U.K.? If it is, why not import?

That's about it for us as well, actually. Sci-Fi has stopped showing Anime at midnight, but I think they're showing Excel Saga really early in the mornings.
Gundam Wing has been snubbed for yet more Dragonball related stuff on Cartoon Network, and the rest is the childrens programming that you mentioned.

However, at a Q&A pannel with ADV at Amecon last weekend, they told some people that we may be in line to get The Anime Network *big smirk*

I only like downloading anime because I(stressed) can have access to many titles that I want to see. However, I don't like it because EVERYONE ELSE gets it as well. And I personally don't like those who have like only anime on their HD's, not on DVDs/VHS.

Gundam SEED is weak. Not bad, like Wing wasn't bad. They're just weak.

I remember that we were supposed to get an arseload of Gundam at the height of the Wing craze a few years ago. But that never happened.
