If you detect spywares that you can't removed, Google search them. You'll surely find something to remove these.

I still use IE but I make sure that I have as much protection as possible - that includes pop-up blocking and a rather large hosts file.

Firefox is what its all about. I recently switched to it from IE. I get no pop-ups or mass cookies. Its great. Right, Disch?

Truth be told, I don't use Firefox for the spyware-prevention features -- that's extra. I use Firefox for the features like Tabbed Browsing (which I now cannot live without)

I only discovered that Opera/Firefox etc, were causing me to have less spyware months after I started using it. Not that I ever got much spyware using IE, but I got FAR less using alternate browsers!

As for the spyware, did you run Hijack This? And if so, could you post the log here, maybe we can help if we see the log

Good luck with the spyware, hope you don't have to reformat.

Good thing to do. And IF you have to reformat, it may fix some problems you weren't aware of.

Chibi, believe me when I say Im never using IE again. Now I know why you all use Fire Fox.

I dont think I have the "latest" updates for the programs so ill try and download them, hopefully my PC wont crash before the download is complete. Im also DL a new antivirus program which will hopefully take care of the problem as well.

And if all that fails I wont hesitate to reformat this piece of junk.

Okay, there are two excellent free programs, both already mentioned, that get rid of Spyware and are very good at doing so. These are Spybot Search and Destroy, and Ad-Aware. Run together, these will remove just about everything.

But it is very important to make sure that you have them both up to date before you begin to scan.

I also think it's very important to prevent Spyware from getting onto your machine in the first place.

One of the easy ways to prevent spyware from getting onto your machine is simply by not using Internet Explorer.

At the moment, Internet Explorer is pretty much plagued by exploits. Microsoft are aware of this, and have announced that they will be releasing IE 7 (before the release of Longhorn) in an attempt to resolve some of the security problems, but until then, you are best to avoid IE and IE based browsers.

I strongly recommend using a browser that is not based on MSIE. Examples include Mozilla, it's little brother, Mozilla Firefox (both free, Open Source projects) or the Proprietary Opera browser.

Because these are not based on IE, they are not susceptible to the exploits that IE is and they will prevent the vast majority of spyware from gaining access to your PC. They also come with tools to allow you to block spyware Cookies, so you can effectively eliminate much more spyware material from even touching your PC.

As for the fact you mentioned that it seems to hijack your browser, run Hijack This, it will spit out a log -- do not act upon it unless you know what you are doing though. There is a tutorial on the log here

Hope this helps.

Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D never failed me, even at the point where I had 200+ spywares on my computer. Just as Colin says, make sure you have the latest updates files.

Ad-Aware should work fine. The free version doesn't have any limits when it comes to deleting, and if you have the latest definition file it should run fine.

You can also go into Ad-Aware's options and set it to scan as soon as you load Windows, which might clear up a few problems as well before they're loaded.

Failing all that, you can run a virus scan or, in a worst case scenario, reformat your PC. If you have 59 spies and not many of them are cookies... you're screwed.

I have Ad-Aware already and used it to get rid of a couple things. But according to Spybot Scan I still have 59 spies on my PC which I cant get rid of unless I pay.

So ill try SSaD and hope for the best.

Edit---
Just finished running SSaD and although it claims to have gotten rid of 7 spies my computers still suffering from the same problems.

If Explorer is opened the browser is instantly hijacked and taken somewhere else followed by hundreds of IE windows opening themselves until my computer freezes. Same goes for opening AIM.

Ive managed to find a way around the probolem, so I can use internet for a while but I keep getting this message like evey 2 minutes....

Heres a pic of it....

Well, there's two good ones, Spybot: Search and Destroy, already mentioned. The other being Ad-Aware 6.0. Both will serve you well.

My computers suffering from like 59 spies and I cant get rid of them. Ive downloaded like 5 different Spyware Removal programes but all they do is Scan until you pay for it.

I need a FREE SPYWARE REMOVAL PROGRAM. Id look for one on my own but my computers so screwed up that I cant stay online for more than 5 minutes at a time and forget about using AIM.

Help would be greatly appreciated.
