The old one (version 2) is unsupported by Sega, and has been picked up by fans, who run free servers. Blue Burst is the one that's P2P still.

Actually, this is not all relevant to the original topic. Sega's servers ARE down. However, some people have created server programs to run on computers, and you can play on them for free... But you need some sort of cheat device to make the game go to them.

How come is it free, if you get it on P2P ?

Ive already seen cracked copys of PSO:BB that let you play on fan servers but aren't quite fully translated or complete yet. Im probly not going to get a cracked copy considering I only downloaded v1.-2 since sega no longer runs the servers and generally makes no profit, so they couldnt give a damn about people and their private servers.

The new one (Blue Burst, the episode 1+2 one) is out, and is P2P. There is a trial that lets you play until level 20 or a certain amount of time (1-2 weeks), but there is no English option. It's also online-only. There is a reasonable chance of it getting an actual release here, though, as they've already obtained the copyright, and the Japanese versions have been getting more and more complete, but utterly unusable, English files.

Then again, that version is also not quite complete yet, although it has been released. They still need to add the new level they've been working on, and Ultimate difficulty.

Although from what I've read, there's a few new versions of PSO for PC coming soon in Japan... one of them is PSO 1+2.

Hopefully that has an English language option...

PSO PC was (keyword: WAS) made and run by Sonic Team, but the official servers were taken down a while ago. There are plenty of fan-servers, and the software to run one yourself is not too hard to find... Although the main sites I know of for them are dedicated almost entirely to cheating, so...

PSO for PC is very well done and theres a variety of servers you an choose from. Also with a program like Tsearch you can easily change your skin or totally hack your stats and items with trainers. I prefer the game legit (lasts longer that way) but cheating's fun for awhile. Im sure you can find the game via bit torrent and it doesnt have very high reqs.

No, its kind of a freely done thing that operate through private servers and was fan-made. They don't profit off of it.

Just get PSO for the computer, its free and its prettier. Plus, there is character customization if you know what you're doing with the codes.

Nope.

I think there might be private servers but you'd have to sniff around for those.
