I'm not sure if this will help anyone here, but for all my graphics dumping stuff I use a program I wrote called FEIDIAN. It works with anything you can write a tile definition for (they're pretty easy and don't really require programming know-how, just some logic). It can write output to BMP and XPM image formats.

I've used it to pull sprites and tiles from dozens of SNES, Genesis, NES, Gameboy and TurboGrafx games.

Only thing is, you need to know how to use a DOS prompt, there's no GUI. It also won't be terribly helpful with compression. You'd need to decompress blocks on your own or with something like FuSoYa's LunarCompress (if it supports your game), then you could convert that decompressed output to BMP.

Maybe it's what you're looking for, maybe it's not.

So with this tiler program, I could use M16-7k to import the YI graphics directly into my game? No more days upon days inserting YI graphics and ripping them.

If this is the case, what are some other features of this program?

TILER is even better for that. It was made by kind of student from austria, and I bumped into it already about 5 years ago when I was still coding PC games. It loads ZSNES savestates and can dump the whole VRAM contents into a PCX file, as well as .maps and all the other crap. Recently I had the idea I could probably use it for ripping YI graphics and it pwns besides to that, it just lets YI itself decompress the graphics for you.

When I was ripping from YI, I ripped the grass set. It took me about 4 hours to rip everything completely. Long time but I think it looks pretty good. You should definetly start out with SMAS, because the layout for the GFX are almost the exact same to SMW. One game you should NEVER rip from is T-Rex. The graphics are prehistric, looks very good in SMW, but it took me almost a week to just assemble the files in YY-chr!

You do know how to rip right?

Go to Zophars Domain (google) and download BGMapper. Now go into a rom and, using ZSNES, savestate where you are. Now using BGMapper open up that save state. You will see a picture of where you were in the game. I now usually rip from the picture (pressing 0 and saving a large snapshot), but you can also press Esc and go to the graphics. Just read the help file that comse with the program and you will be fine.

Oh yeah, forgot to add. Rip roms which GFX's are compressed.

Smallhacker, can you be a tad more specific on how to rip from a GFX compressed rom?

Open ROM. Copy graphics to empty ExGFX file. Insert. (If the graphics are compressed, you can open a save state) Not that hard.

I'm just wondering, after playing Luigi's Adventure, I wonder how the heck can you rip off GFX from Yoshi's Island and such THAT EFFECTIVELY?

So I can use some graphics from something BESIDES the cliched Allstars.
