ASM is somewhat of a contraction of assembly code. SNES uses a form of it. Basically, when someone tells you to learn ASM in response to a "how to" question, they mean "Program it yourself."

There are many guides to ASM on the internet. I suggest you try Google.

As for where to download tile editors, Zophar's Domain has tons of tools for most everything.

Smallhacker, for 2 I'm pretty sure he's asking if he can use more than one ExGFX file for the same graphics area.

I'm thinking the answer "Learn ASM" is used too much =/

1. how do i make my own background for a level i cant figure it out
Answer: Read the help file.

2. ive inserted an exgraphics file i downloaded but is it possible to use more than one in any level because you need the map16 files and i dont want to mess up my rom by overwriting them by mistake

3. also can anyone either make or give me step by steps on how to make a pipe that you go in one side and you move through the other side like in demo world tlc?

Answer: Edit their graphics (Read the help file.) or edit what they do (Learn ASM)?

1. After making your own background tileset with any tile editor, even LM's default one, open the map16 editor and the background editor (you may need to make your own background tiles first) and paste the tiles you want in to the background editor.

2. No, not really.

3. Learn ASM, after you do that you should have no trouble coding it.

4. Learn ASM, find the data, edit it.

5. Learn ASM, after you do that find where the sprite data is and edit it manually.

6. YY-CHR.

7. No, anyone interested in making a hack probably has there own in progress.

ok im a noob il admit it i know how to use most features of lunar magic and im just getting used to exgraphics but not editing them and i want to know a couple of things
