Hmmm, some interesting new developments on this. That, and it sheds a little light on how the authorities view this. They didn't think the game was a factor.

Yet the media ignored them. Figures.

Here's the story.

like I always say to someone who blames violence on video games, "the only way it happens, id if the kid is already fucked up in the head, and doesnt know right from wrong" case closed..... lol.

One thing if funny, I never get disgusted by games. But I do get disgusted and terrefied by news.

And that's becuse I can diffrer betweem reality and whatnot.

CNN is a funny channel, I swear it's mostly about the war whenever I turn it on. And therefore I seldom watch CNN. It's mostly just US news anyway which dosen't intrest me.

See, what parents don't understand, that nowadays, it's real life and movies that influence video games. So if you see it in video games, chances are, it appeared else where before hand. Before point fingers, they need to learn where the source is first

They show war. War is realistic, games are not. News channel are way worse than games. That proves your point,

You've never shoved a cat on the end of your shotgun?

To be honest, the media for middle Britain have jumped on this. The Daily Mail has been waiting for such a statement so it can make a big fuss. Snobs.

In my opinion, watching CNN exposes you to more violence than video games. Let's ban CNN.

Only if it was possible to rent games here. (there were places where you could rent games before, but that time is since long past )

And I have seen games with alot of blood and violence, now I don't mind it. But blood in unreal big quantites is just silly. It's not realstic at all.

...I wonder what's the next thing they are gonna blame on. Message boards?

I got my copy months ago. Not a bad game at all, I must say.

This story is nothing new. Just a classic scapegoat scheme exploited by those who have no idea of what they blabber on about. It will get passed over once everyone sees what a bunch of crap it is.

I would go on a deeper, more detailed rant, but I'm tired now...

Postal 2 pretty much sucks ass as far as FPS' go. The only reason I bought it was for a quick chuckle. Trust me, it sounds better on paper and is not worth your money. Not for single player anyway. I didn't even bother with multiplayer. I would rather play something else.

I bought Manhunt for PS2 when it came out. I'm surprised it didn't do better. It's actually a really good game and a great concept. A dark one too. I'm not sure how good it did in sales, but I don't ever remember it having much hype. Maybe after this though...

Anyway, the premise of the game is that basically, you're a guy who's trying to escape from...some guy and he's playing this game where you're the star of his movies (he video tapes what you go through) and you have to go through the game killing people you come across. The people you kill are gang members who are trying to hunt you down.

That's as best as I can explain it. Has anyone ever seen Surviving the Game with Ice-T? Or am I the only one in the world? If you have, it's sort of like that. Except in the city, and on video tape.

If you play it in the dark, it's even better. There's a certain degree of stealth as well. You sneak up on gang members, hold a button, and depending on how long you held it you get a more gorier kill.

For instance, if you use a paper bag, and tap the button while behind an enemy, you'll put the bag over his head and strangle him. But if you hold the button longer then release it, you'll put the paper bag over his head and bash him in the skull over and over again with a baseball bat.

It's a really cool game that's worth at LEAST a rental.

Anyway, I'd like to say that if this game DID in fact inspire this murder, then that's irrelevant. Anyone who would kill someone after playing this game isn't right in the head and was bound to kill someone sooner or later even without knowledge of this game.

Tried it, I haven't even heard of it! What is it? And yeah, all that bad press does wonders for sales. Vice City pretty much rode into the millions on its moniker of sex, violence and crude humor. People bought it BECAUSE it was like that. It's a kind of crazed irony, you know? People are willing to buy something with bad stuff in it just because there's bad stuff in it that they wouldn't be able to do in real life.

That's what happened to Postal 2 (I think it was the second one).

It was shown in a quite recent documentary about how "dangerous" games is. On the day after Postal was outsold on mosts places. (BTW, I heard that Postal is crap but I hadn't tried it...)

Much more than weekly, people don't plead insanity anymore, they plead GTA. Crazy part is, there have been cases where kids have walked for accidental murders because they claimed they were imitating GTA. That's what gets them out of trouble, saying that video games influenced them, and that's what gets us all IN trouble, because the ESRB only serves to tighten its grip after that.

Dammit, Cy! Comments start with <!-- and end with -->. You went and killed the page.

But back on topic: This is news? It only happens what, weekly?

The first GTA had some publicy back then actually, I quite rembember that. It was the first game you could kill the police in...

GTA 2 didn't make so big fuss for some reason.

People need to blame something other than themselves. I beleve that If someone kills a person, it's their fault not the fault of something else.

I remember I once stubbed my toe, and I went on a killing spree. It was blamed exclusively on my Smarties because I ate the red ones second to last.
