Koopa Hilltop and Blargg Volcano in particular are delightful.

Lunar Sunset is kind of mediocre though.

Still, though, some of the best backgrounds I've seen.

All you need are Koopas in top hats and your hack will be perfect.

Er, what's the point of copy prevention if you're going to make them public anyway? For that matter, what'd be the point of copying them?

For those whose keyboards can't do the code (quite a few people): Parasyte made an unofficial LM patch that changes it to Ctrl+Insert, and if you have a Saitek joypad, they can emulate the keyboard which allows the code to be entered by pressing a button on the pad. (Be careful though, I did it wrong and totally fudged up my keyboard until I rebooted. )

Just d/l an ExGFX file from the ExGFX workshop and copy that file. Then open it up in YY-chr (TLP) and delete the graphics that are in there. That way you have a blank ExGFX file that is 4kb.

or just copy a GFX file from the graphics folder, put it in the exgfx folder, erase the graphics in the bin and put your exgfx in it and then insert it to the rom.

Awesome BGs, by the way.

But, the wiggler one will looke like a still picture, so take out the wiggler. And make the yoshies animated in the yoshi lake BG, make them go back and forth 2 or 3 frames, it won't be so hard, just be patient, coz it ll look great

3. All the shots are warped 2-5 pixels in 8 possible directions. Its really noticible on some if you look at the test. I guess they would still be possible to copy, but DONT!!!

Oh that's why I didn't like that candy stuff forest... I thought this belongs to the bit depht reduction (error diffusion or whatsoever)... well, if it is so, I would have to have another look at them when they aren't warped anymore before I could make a judgement.

Now just proceed with the m16-7k as normal. This is what I have been doing, however I can't seem to get the stuff to save. It migt be this keyboard I have. It can't regester more than 4 keys at a time (its from 2003).

If your wondering how I can acess the m16-7k, I use a different keyboard when I want to access that.

A question that I had, That I'll ask on this thread.

How do you add a blank ExGFX file? I haven't been able to find one. Does that mean that I'll have to make one?

Thanks for your time.

No thanks.
And Keikonium, you said that you were going to send them to the WORKSHOP. How the hell they aren't going to be overused?

Steal my gfx and you get shot....hehe

I guess your right. I will still submit them, but at least I will get credit when they are in the games. Thta is if I can ever get ths m16-7k thing to work!

As for the fish name, if you want to keep up the mario line, I believe it is called Cheep-cheep (as seen on _this_ board's Mario rankset)...

For me, all except for that candy forest looks good. And I don't see any "warping"... I could rip all of these BGs from the screenshots into SMW levels within half an hour (per BG)...

1. Thanks for the cheep cheeps name. I couldn't remember what it was.
2. How can you not like the Cotton Candy Forest! Pink trees

Awesome, especially Yoshi's Lake. They look 3D and stuff. All I see for Volcano is black, though.

Nooooo, knuck why did you say the name of the game. I really dont want M&W to be overused like smas and possibly YI....
anyway thanks guys. I know they aren't perfect yet, but it was like 4 in the morning when I started work on them...

I personally like the characters in the background but I may also make some without. But I will not get rid of the blargg. He's too cool!

I have just ripped a new tileset but wont upload it until tomorrow. Its not from mario btw. My computer was uploading at like 200 BYTES today because they are doing work with the internet by my place. So I will post the set in the ExGFX workshop thread.

Although they look nice and obviously show your great effort in ripping and assembling them, they are'nt what I call seemless. They can clearly be repeated like wallpaper and they don't quite mend with eachother. But I do agree that they are all mario-esque. Also, you might want to take out the characters in the background so that people won't know that they are but mere still-life pictures.
Beyond that, the pictures themselves are'nt cheesy as the majority I see today, and they do emphasize the mario traditions quite vividly. Could use a few modifications, but nicely done nonetheless.

Nice. Now even Mario & Wario GFX are going to be overused.

Well, I have done all that stuff, but I guess its worth a try to do it again. For about 3 hours I rip and assembled a few backgrounds from a game that I know you will think has a mario feel. Here are the shots:

Yoshi's Lake
Wiggler Forest
Solar Sunset
*fish name* Tank
Rex Ice Cave
Pokey Desert
Lunar Sunset
Lakitu Cloud
Koopa Hilltop
Blargg Volcano

All names are copyright me They will be used as the level names that contain this background in my hack Hope you like these ones.

EDIT: I am aware that not all the BG match up perfectly, they are still in the works.

The Cave BG and the cotton candy ones are nice. All of the other ones look a bit.... off

Like they are too dark in some places...

Then you haven't read the full tutorial.

So I say it now for you: Insert a blank ExGFX file, then open the 16x16 Editor and type in the M16-7K code. After that set the things up you want to do and then click on OK. You will be offered to import the files, which Pic2Snes created. Now you have the BG in your ExGFX, look in the 8x8 Editor, if you see it press F9 in the 8x8 and 16x16 Editor, but the level must also be saved, too. After saving the level and the 8x8 and 16x16 Editor, reinsert the ExGFX and it must work from now on.

Edit: If it doesn't work, send me your hack with the BG's to hiddenmario15@yahoo.de and I will do it for you.

I have ripped a background and used M16-7k to insert it into LM. However when I press F9 to save it, it doesn't save. I have also tried F2, F5, F7, and Shift-F9. None work. I am tring to save it to an ExGFX file. I followed Hidden Mario's guide to M16-7k exactly and it wasn't working.

Here are some shots of it in LM (They have been warped to stop people from copying it before I submit it to the ExGFX workshop):

Volcano
Sunset
Moon
Clouds
Cotton Candy Forest
Cave

So what do you think of these BGs, and how do I save it? A step by step instruction guide would be great. Thanks

EDIT: If an admin could change the name to "Ripped Backgrounds- M16-7K related" that would be great
