If this IS a WinModem just pray it's a Lucent - From what I hear they're the easiest to get working in Linux.
I wouldn't know - I've only used DSL in Linux.

Now I have a small question, what Modem are you using? (check in Windows )
FC2 dosen't always detect everything automatically (windows dosen't either always mind you), I had to install my network card.
It could aswell be that the modem is correctly installed, it's just something that isn't set correctly who makes the modem to dial up. But the browsers don't understand that there is dial-up. Just let me check with my installation... |

It could be Winmodems ... I don't know if they make dial-up sound things, though.
Last time I checked, Winmodem drivers are only for Windows. |

You wouldn't happen to be using a WinModem by any chance would you?
I don't know if it matters in FC2 though.
My guess would be that either FC2 doesn't support WinModems or you don't have the proper drives installed. I don't know how much experince you have with other operating systems other than Windows, but Linux needs a lot more configuration on your part than Windows does.
I can't offer any more help beyond that, sorry. Ailure on the other hand, might be able to. He has experience with Fedora Core 2.
I don't know if he's seen this thread or not, but I'll refer him to it.
EDIT: Ah, jeeze. I forgot all about the part where you said you could hear it connecting. I think that eliminates my two guesses. This sounds like an easy problem to fix though. We'll see. |

So, I installed everything and it all works fine... except for the internet (I'm under XP right now). It connects to the net (Using KPPP), but when I try to load a page, it says that the host does not exist just like if I wasn't connected. The thing is, I HEARD the phone while connecting to the net and the sound was normal, just like if I was connecting in Windows. Any clues ?
