Sure, if you'd like it to be!
If I can stop watching One Piece tonight (probably won't happen!) then I'll see about adding more admin features to the main site. That way I won't have to do any manual adding of new utilities or hacks when something new is released. ;D

Oh, like you thought DES was going anywhere. Looking forward to knocking off some new stuff... maybe ReSpin'll be under the DES banner after all.

As I said on IRC, it's nice to see DES online again. Or, more precisely...

<Icy_Guy> Nice to see your guys are back, Para.
<Icy_Guy> *youy

It's also nice to see that more people are taking an interest in GBA ROM hacking. Maybe this sucker (which needs to be updated at some point) will help out there, although I bet most of the people here don't care about hacking Sonic games, much less Sonic Battle. However, a utility I link to in there (written by yours truly) could come in handy, no matter what you hack.

Then improve your feeble hex-viewing abilities...

Welcome back, even though i think this is the third time I've said it...

GBA has a lot of possiblities in hacks... and I think it would be great to start hacking some games for it...

I know some level data for Sonic Advance 1/2/3 as well as things like tile map data, but those are way easy on the GBA Sonics. A game that I'd like to see hacked would be Mario VS. Donkey Kong, plenty of puzzle possibilities there, or maybe Donkey Kong GB!

I wasn't thinking about having Pokemon hackers become a part of DES. But it's not me to decide who hacks what.
If you're still interested by the time we're recruiting, cool.

Yay! DES is back up, however I have known about this for a little bit. Anyway, this thread motivates me to re-register.

Speaking of Which, I've figured out that in Link's awakening, the pallete attributes for each tile also have a flip bit, and a priority bit, so if Nephi Ultra ever get's that far, don't forget to include that.

Im happy it got up again. I knew nothing about it. If desnet's activity rises again, you can count me in as well. Maybe not on such a high social level, but im still working on my things in silence

Drag, you are still staff, and still welcome to continue working with us. (Though the cheap shots to Vagla have to stop. )

I don't know if I want to start getting rid of inactive members yet, or not. Most of them (bitmaster being a good example) just do not have any time for rom hacking. But at least he is still showing interest in it. However, I was definitely thinking of 'recruiting' new members, if only to liven things up a bit while the older members are unable to do much.

Anyway, join #desnet on irc.esper.net, where the future plans and such can be more thoroughly discussed. (#rom-hacking has also moved to irc.esper.net, so drop by there as well.)

What about the talent I've been working on for a quarter of a year?

Am I still staff there? I had ftp and mysql access and would upload hacks to the hacks page, and I made the php ftp thingy.

Mind you, we are losing Weasel for 2 full years, so maybe we need to scout for more talent again.

I think I'll trash my current LA hack, ZNI, in favour of a new one I tentitivly calling "The Legend of Zelda, Chaotic Ruins" It will feature minor ASM hacking(so far the chest spawning area is changed, and the appearing stairs have been replaced by a ladder that appears in a certain spot). I also discovered that the GBC version uses tile flipping, so I can actually cut back the amount of tiles needed to render an object, and thus add to the main tilesheet. So far I have made it so lock blocks can be added on any screen reguardless of the object graphics(and converyer belts).

The hack I plan to basically ignore the overworld completly(since Nephi can't edit it yet), and have the dungeons merge into one big one. The premise of the hack is that you explore the ruins, collecting items, and returning to previous areas to open new ones. For example, you start in level 1, but soon make it to level 2. To reach the boss, you need the hookshot, but to open the boss door you need the key, which you have to reach from level 3. Once you get the boots in level 3, you have to jump down a pit to level 1 and beat the mini boss, to reach level 4.

Think Legend of Zelda infused with premises from Blaster Master, as well as other games as all the bosses arn't readily available for arse whooping.

As I log more data, more changes will be in store.
