It depends really.
I perfer them long and hard because well its more enjoyable. I hate when your just about to get in to it, you're already finished.
Pokemon will never be hard. NEVER!. Forget it. Its not possible. |

It has to be long and hard, but there should always be something to do, and sidequests shouldn't give you too much stuff. But the length doesn't matter too much, as long as it is fun . |

I have no idea what you mean. Like I said I'm planning to make the max level 200, so he'll be close to that. (I don't wanna spoil a lot of the plot, though. ) Also, that reminds me... "Soandso ignored orders!" - One message you won't be seeing in this game, at least not when using anything you've raised. (No fair borrowing something 60 levels higher than everything around you by trading, though. )

There will be some leveling up involved, but not a whole lot. Nothing says boring like having to spend 6 hours leveling up after every hour of gameplay. I'll be concentrating more on strategy. (In fact, I've been thinking of redoing the whole battle engine, if the GBC can handle it...)
I like the changes you mention. Also, please make sure to make heavy useage of interesting dual-type pokemon (Gold/silver had plenty, like Whooper, Skarmory, Xatu, and the like), and of varying typed moves and pokemon in general.
Ugh. That's what makes R/S and even moreso colluseum so annoying. You can never predict what'll happen when you attack, but it's a good bet the effect will be little to none. Combinations like Water and Ground, Electric and Rock, Dark and Steel, it's so confusing. Not to mention, it's rarely safe to use an attack of the enemy's element, thanks to abilities like Water Absorb.
A lot of the moves/items that are practically useless like Guard Spec will be either removed or boosted to where it's actually worth using them. The biggest thing, though, is preventing the AI from being incredibly cheap. Pok |

Long and hard, definately Something to keep my attention for weeks if not months. You really get a sense of reality and depth of the story with game like that

Why, in my day, we just had Hp and Exp! And Gp. And Sp. And Cp. And Pp. And the first letter of every other precious metal followed by a p.
(That's D&D for you. It's widely recognized as the first RPG... so maybe all these different "points" aren't that new, eh?) |

I like my RPGs long and hard, but some people have ideas of hard that don't agree with mine. A good difficulty, to me, is one that makes it challenging at the level you should be at if you pummel nearly, but not quite every, random encounter you see along the way without going out of the way to level up. If someone lacks strategy, they can level up a while and have less difficulty with the next area. It's annoying to someone who doesn't like leveling up, like me, if it's needed to get by an area.

You could really create some interesting gameplay if you use the pokemon types and the two different sets of offence/defence stats to create multiple rock/paper/scizors effects (see Fire Emblem for a good example of how that works out).

Count me in! You might just make pokemon interesting to me again, if that's the case. But what about special defensive items (EG. Guard spec. Seemed pretty useless in game, when it comes down to brass tacks)? Or buffs? Buffs never really seemed impressive to me in the Pokemon games, and when it comes to challenge, they never made the game easier unless your foe used one and wasted a turn against you. Is that gonna get tweaked? |

Ah yes, I forgot to mention. I'll be replacing the PP system with a more traditional MP system (each character has xx amount of PP and each move takes a certain amount, some of course won't use any and others will take quite a bit). I don't wanna spoil too much, but the last boss will be quite powerful, probably level 180 (I intend to raise the max level to 200, if no problems arise, and of course tweak the EXP system to match). I haven't decided on a moveset, should be something with at least one really strong attack, probably a weaker one, and some defensive stuff. (Nothing involving recovery though, I hate that. ) You can either catch him or just beat him up. (Of course if you catch him you get to keep him. ) I'm also gonna tweak the AI to be less cheap. Ex: An enemy with Protect (Detect, which does exactly the same thing will be removed) will actually use something else once in a while (and its success rate will drop significantly fast), trainers won't use potions practically every time their HP gets low (I might have to put a limit on it, hardly fair when your enemy has infinite Full Restores), and PP will actually count for something.
Oh, and don't worry about humour. |

I like my RPGs fun. So provided the game IS fun, longer and more challenging (heh, Weasel ) would be the ideal choice. |

longer games are always better as long as they catch your imagination and get you truely believing in the story. |
