Battle City.

It's actually not a terrible game for 1985.

No, it started with some bricks that formed the text "Battle City" No spaceships there...

Did Battle City start with a space ship landing when you turned it on? I think I rented a game by that or similar name once; it wouldn't run at all on our NES, just rebooted constantly (which the lockout system does) while other games worked on it, so I wonder if it wasn't just a pirate whose lockout-bypass system didn't work on ours. (It worked for them, though.)

It maybe was a Japan and European only release.

There are a few games that only have been released here and in Japan.

Japan only release for the NES.

I've seen pirate copies of freaking LODE RUNNER for the NES. So don't think that a cart with only one game on it is legit.

One multicart contains Strange Mario Bros (and that's is Acmlm's first released hack).

I hadn't seen a picture of that multicart thought.

$5 says they reverse-engineered the Famicom for that.

Most built-in games are from the mid-80's - Nintendo titles and basically any cart under 64kb.

I have one of those. None of the built-in games are very good (Well.. Tetris 2 is good fun, and SMB is always there..), but it does play Famicom carts. I picked up Wai Wai World 2 and Adventure Island from eBay. Good, cheap fun.

Usually the unit is composed of the game controller.

anyone played 'polystation'? it is an imitation of playstation which uses cartdriges instead of cd's. there are usually a lot of nes games in it, but some (like smb) are divided in parts. For example: in the same cartridge there's a smb section from world 1 to world 5, and there's then another one from world 6 to world 8.
It is pretty...meh its not the same thing

I think it depends how stores advertise the things... Obviously if a place selling them says "Play hundreds of great GBA games!", then they're doomed.

True, and because their not illegal, you can buy them online easily.. I bought a 512megs a while ago, shipped great, received it in less then a week.. I really enjoy it, with this you will never buy a GBA game again..

No, they're not. Just because Nintendo says they are, doesn't make it so. If you use it with games you legally own, or homebrew ROMs that are legally distributed, then you are fully within the law to use a flash linker.

GB carts are rarer but if you're lucky you can find a good one like that. Most pirate carts that you see now for the NES have those CRAPPY fighting games.

I'd like to find one of those joysticks in stores. Not too common here.

I have a decent GB multicart with gems like Wario Blast, Jurassic Park 2, Crazy Castle 2, Tetris (well, I can play multiplayer now, at least), The Smurfs, Darkwing Duck, Talespin, ect. It claims to have 17 games, but it's more like 12. But those 12 are mostly great games, so who cares.

I also have that Namco joystick with Pac-Man, Galaxian, Rally X, Dig Dug and Bosconian. A nice collection.

But yeah, stay the hell away from Action 52. There's more action in a bowl of oatmeal.
