Err. It is a glitch. It's not intended. Just because they reference it doesn't mean it's intended. It's a side-effect. Since your travel data isn't there, it fails to load it and thusly loads nothing and gets that.

From the glitch guide...

"OK, this happened to me while I was on my brother's game the other day after
he reset and got Resetti. I kept typing things in to piss of Resetti and
laugh at the fool. I called him a tool as a joke and the entire game reset
and went back to the title screen and I had to log in again. Resetti was
super pissed and then pretended to reset my game. Not sure if it's a glitch,
but it was quite odd."

Hahahahaha! My little brother got the game (he insisted) and stopped playing it within a week.

KATW, I love open ended games. You should just see the countless hours I spent in games like the various Sim city and the sims games.

Really sad that Animal crossing hadn't been released here yet, there have been rumours about a release thought
Look after Glitch guide here, i'm not surprised that the game is buggy. It's an N64 game port. (with alot of stuff added...)

They admit to the glitch in the manual? Wow.

Then again if you're silly enough to not follow what I'm sure is a *very* clear instruction knowing Nintendo...

There's nothing weird about that. It even mentions it in the instruction manual, I believe. If you erase your travel data, that's what happens.

Animal crossing didnt really appeal to me... heck, ANY real-life type games (Harvest Moon, Sims, AC) dont appeal to me.

But an interesting glitch none-the-less

Uh huh. But it's still his fault for not saving and erasing his travel data. Personally, I'm quite glad I never got Animal Crossing. Would take up waaay too much of my time.

Yes, Resetti Intelligence Agency.

They're masters of time travel, intent on making your life a living hell if you "forget" to save.

So my brother was playing Animal Crossing... and his face disappeared. What he tells me is that he went to another town, shut down without saving, and erased the travelling data. When he started up agaih, he had no money, no items... and no face. Just 3 big circles. After saving and resetting again, it was back (but not the money and items). Weird?
