Actually, that is the ceiling tile . Notice the "ceiling tiles" look slightly different from the rest. I'll need to see if I can change those without changing any other unintended tiles....

You're thinking of Super Mario World, though, where you can "jump through" without an actual ceiling tile: in Super Mario Bros. 3, ceiling tiles or not, you can't jump through .

Guess it's a good sign that Dahrk thinks it looks nice .

Actually, while the corner isn't a bug, the whole top could cause some problems. If I remember correctly, there has to be a floor a celing tile or if you jump on or though it, it might mess you up.

Anyway, that shot everyone's talking about is okay to me. It's just the shade of BG you use is killing my eyes for some reason.

Why do people think little things like that are "bugs"?

Anyways, the hack looks like it's got some spiffy level design, so we know atleast this is what you rely on, rather than flashy asm hacks and awesome graphics. Good job so far

Well, it's a Nintendo game hack, so I think it should feel at least "semi-old". Anyway, the screens look nice, and the level design looks good also...

"The Old Nintendo-Feel" is when you feel like you see a 'new Nintendo Title as in the late 80s early 90s.

Excellent, as with many of your other hacks. The best are the "swamp" level (screenshot 6) and the sky fortress (screenshot 8). Personally, I like the effect of the palette in the sixth screenshot. You are probably the best "average" hacker around; that is; a hacker who only works with an editor, and doesn't use ASM or anything else.

Nice hack. Did you also edit the palette?

I'm sorry, but I gotta' ask, since I'm not sure what you mean: what is the "old Nintendo-Feel"?

I realize there's probably not much you can do about it, but my main problem with the water in the sixth screenshot is that it looks like it's a part of the background, as opposed to the foreground.

Still, it's lookin nice so far.

You don't like the sixth screenshot... I thought the colors worked well together, kinda' swampy-looking, but if others agree with you, I can easily change them.

There will be a few new graphics, like the background water in the second screenshot. And a few others not shown here/not done yet. And if it counts, no more annoying diagonal white lines in the ice levels, as can be seen in the ninth shot. By no means will it be a graphical overhaul, though.

There may or may not be any asm hacking, depending how I can get certain things to work... either way, it wouldn't be much.

The level editing, though, is quite extensive, save for a few level endings (in which there's not a whole lot you really can do), or the World 4 Hammer Brother level (in which I have absolutely no clue what I can do with it).

I'll see about the water surface issue. It looks bad when I use the "animated" water, which is why I didn't. But I'll see about improving it's appearance a bit.

Yeah, in screenie #6, the water really needs the surface tiles. But it's looking great.

Great screenies, the level design looks interesting... will it features new graphics, asm... or is it just level editing ?

That are some very nice screenshots.
Except for the sixth screenshot (from left to right) the green from the ground and blue from the water kind of collide with eachother. It just doesn't look right to me. :\

Some of you may remember a second Super Mario Bros. 3 hack I was working on a while back, then quit working on for a very long time. Well, I've been re-working on it, except most of it's gotten a pretty big overhaul, making it easier, and making the levels just more plain fun.

I've been working pretty hard on it, and I hope when it's all finished, it winds up being the third best Super Mario Bros. 3 hack around . It might not be a complete overhaul, but it's gonna' still be a damn fun game to play .
