This is the company that made the Hoyle series [shut up, dammit, I liked the old DOS version... the charas would say funny things if you let them sit there instead of playing, hehe...] and Thexder...

Ask Melv about the last one. I played it on my old 20MHZ and... I loved it. Come on, it's -wow-. Giant mech thing that flies and has heat seaking lasers.

Ooo.

Hey, Sierra didn't know that CS would become so popular.

...Then again, they cashed in on it eventually by releasing CS in a Half-Life pack, no?

Then again, Sierra probably didn't give a shit until it BECAME popular, seeing how it's made by Gooseman and Cliffe and not Valve nor Sierra. It's cool that they hired those two guys though.. and not just stole the concept :p. I want a list of Sierra games, I can't remember any that I really liked <.<

Oh, they cashed in on it in many ways. Marketing, and selling movie rights ot a Half-Life movie, etc.

On Sierra being gone...I'm wondering...Is this because Malice turned into a shitacular game and they didn't manage to release anything for the consoles?

Just pointing out that I wish for anyone even so much as remotely connected to Half-Life (And more specifically, Counter-strike) to die a horrifically painful death.

Sierra did some cool things, sure, but the death of the publisher of "That game you need to run Counter-Strike" practically has me rejoicing.

I was sorta going for hte idea of redemption through decent games destroying the relics of the past, but if you liked Quest 64, that's what you liked.

Every time THQ makes a decent wrestling game, God burns a Quest 64 cart.

The WWE games are generally crap. The ones that they've released on X-Box anyways. I actually threw mine out...Well, traded it in, anyways. Which is taboo in my world.

how many percent of people were let go? if a company is comprised of 500 people and only 50 are laid-off? that is only 10%, which is a moderate amount of people to layoff, if they laid off 100 or more, then that is a hefty cut...

but anyways, i don't think THQ is going to disappear...

ergh. a pal of my dad used to program for THQ...he got layed off and is back working for my dad though. The fact that they have to lay off programmers sorta shows that they aren't doing too well, though this did happen some months back

Doesn't look like it because THQ stock is going at $22/share...however, EA is going at ~$52/share... plus, THQ signed a deal with Nickelodeon it seems they will be sustanined by the market that watches Nick...

It's always the companies whom you think are dead that produce the best results. Take Working Designs for example, having not technically produced a game in a year and a half suddenly they come out with the Arc the Lad games. Or Westwood, bought out by EA, but Still producing Generals, which is a fine game in and of itself. It's no RA2, but it's good.

Myself I can't wait for THQ to die. And if Valve still exists, then so will Half-Life, you forget that Sierra's a publisher, not usually a developer. That said, I think I'll go find a King's Quest game or two myself. But I've never played Red Baron...

I really don't care if a company gets bought out, as long as they keep producing the games.

Shame...I did like Tribes, though.
