I tried to make an ASM hack that increased a double word (4 bytes) every cycle, but I couldn't find the exact location of the main loop.

It would be more then just some stupid thing, it would be a level that could be beat by many but only mastered by few. It willt take a while to develop, but it you add enough jumps and tricky spots, it could be cool.

I know the tile is discolored, I just threw together the SS in about 10min

Well, it certainly gets the job done for a little thing like that.

Though you might want to check one of those tiles on the face hills... one of the tiles is Out Of Place.

Now, as for time attack.... Its doable... but Id like to see a bit more than "SPEED THROUGH SMW OMG OK?

the bosses were too easy so i got rid of them, where the big red door was changed the screen exit to the next level. so you never went to the ov at all.

Would you only want it to have 1 Life? Because you can only have 1 Midway point for each OW Level (any Level that's linked to it acts as if it's also the OW Level,... well at least for Midway Points and Completion of the Level, etc.)

So technically you'd have more than 1 life, but you'd have to restart the Level from the Beginning,... unless you set a Midway point, but even at that, you only get one, and you'll start in the OW Level #, not the Level that you set an exit to.

(It will use the Screen # from the Level # that the Midway Point is touched, but it won't start you in the Level # that you crossed the Midway point in, unless you crossed it in the Level that's connected to the OW).

I think he means he linked the worlds together

Also, I'll post a beta pic of the mini-overworld I'l b.s'ing together right now

If you play through every level how do you avoid going to the overworld? I mean, you've got various bosses that send you there.

This does sound cool, i time myself on the original all the time. If I did it though, I would get rid of the OV. I did that once, where you played through every level, never went to the ov and at the end you killed bowser. That was all one level. Never released it though, since there was nothing new and no timer.

Maticolloto made a timer thath counts up to 99 minutes or so. And wasn't that hard to make it. The timer never resets and it's stored to SRAM too (saves). So it's totally possible.

Oh, I thought you wanted it like MM5 Time Attack. It would definately look prettier...

Yea, thats what I was thinking with the pipes. I changed a level and half way it switched to another level. Thats what gave me the idea. Also, I remember people doing time things with nes games like you said. I know that I could patch together a time attack level (at least something basic). I just think that it could be really fun and spark some fun competition.

Replace all goals with pipes leading to the next level. Then, bypass the level timer and give a time for every level that's relatively tough but still doable, and, set it to load at that time each time you enter the level.

That will take an ungodly amount of ASM hacking. Ask BMF54123... He may be able to help you, I dunno. It's doable in NES games, but in SMW? I dunno...

Hello, 1st time poster, but have been lurking for a while. Would it be possible to create a simple version of SMW that is a time attack version? I'm thinking something along the lines of one long level with a section of every 'type' of SMW world (water, plain, fortress). I have a feeling that in order to add a timer (from something internal that would just keep track of the timeleft values to a fully graphical timer in the status bar) would take a large ammount of ASM hacking. I have very little experience with that.

If anyone would like to help in this effort, it would be greatly appreciated. Or, if you want to bust my bubble telling me this is impossible, go right ahead!
