I am using a:href. Don't they turn big and boldish when you hover over them? It does for me.  What did you mean by tables exactly? I'm still using them, I just disabled the border. Of course, I needed some DIVs to put certain things in the right place. |

I would have to agree, since when I mouse over them for a while I don't get an address popup [like usual] and if I don't get one I'm not clicking the link.
Why not just use regular a:herf tags [if you're not] or just resume the table tag 'crap'? I don't find this especially better, and at least the table layout looked good, minus that stupid status cell thing.
You can always use border=0 cellspacing=0 cellpadding=0. It's how I did this layout  |

The avatar does look bad though.. what you should do is place it on a 60x60 image, with a transparent background, and load it that way. That's what Ailure does with his sprite avatar. That way it won't stretch. |

Well, there are a lot of them, but they looked fine in all my tests:
-WinXP, Mozilla, 1280x1024
-WinXP, IE, 1280x1024

-Win98, Mozilla, 800x600
What are you using? Seems to be mis-rendering DIVs horribly, whatever it is.

Actually, the top is exactly how it looks [still default BG color]...
...it might be wise to have someone redo that layout, since I don't have those problems with any other layouts, just yours

Mmmm.. major improvement. There's a lot of empty space around the text bar that looks weird.
As long as we're talking HyperHacker improvements, take a look at your avatar. It looks horrible.. the way the image is stretched out. Maybe you should replace it, or fix the actual image itself to fit the 60x60 limit. |

there is still a bit of dead space right below your title bar of your layout. Otherwise, yeah, I believe this looks better. One more thing, I believe you will replace those items in between the brackets accordingly? |

I've done some tweaking as per your various suggestions. The BG is now aligned to the bottom to look more natural in long posts (I will NOT use a scrolling layout, hell, I don't even know how ). I've faded it at the edges to blend more naturally into the black around it, and reduced the filesize by 77%. (For some reason I had Photoshop set to save it at max quality. ) It's a mere 89K now.
The status images along the side are gone, the table borders eliminated, and the two random smilies (except the 'icon' in my titlebar) dead. I've done away with the ugly buttons in favour of links, since I'm no longer using an 'interface' style.
The Japanese text on the left is now a transparent GIF, so those of you without Japanese/Unicode support can see it properly, and I fixed the lines as mentioned earlier. (I hope those were the right lines...  )
Oh, and as for the logo up there, I don't see any white border. Are you using WinXP? I know it does a better job of anti-aliasing, so maybe it's smoothed out.

On the plus side, it's definitely a better one than your last one, less strain on the text...on the lesser side...it's still one of those full window ones that usually don't turn out too well...as demonstrated when you stretched the window for more text...
You ought to work on simplifying it...extremely...the background I actually go for, I mean it's an Inuyasha thing and it's actually quite nice...maybe mess around with it a little bit, and make it a little more original...but the background you currently have is one that you would want to use for a scrolling layout (which a lot of people bitch over...so even though it's a superior layout...it's not recommended).
I'd give it a 5/10. |

The anti aliasing on that.. I don't know if you can see it on my layout right now, but it white outline is awkward. Doesn't take more than a bit of editing in photoshop to fix that, though. |

Well here's the to-do list I PMed myself from school...
-Kill the damn table border and make it work without one.
-Get a more accurate translation for the left side. (Or, rather, fix it so it's right vertically.)
-Kill the status pics, just trash the whole cell.
-Change the BG to 'fade out' the stars to nothingness, so it doesn't look so cut off, and save it at lower quality/different format to make it smaller.
And as of Ailure's suggestion, move the BG to the bottom. Also something I thought up later trying and failing to get Win98 to display Japanese, turn it into a GIF. |

It's the same reason I call Kawa Boxman on MSN: His name is three boxes. He uses unicode or whatever it is characters to display jap.
I hate that. Boxes are stupid. Don't make me look at boxes. ARgh.

babelfish has the right translation, but since you are displaying "haipaahakkaa" vertically, those horiztonal lines need to be come vertical lines. Maybe you can substitute the vertical lines using the pipe for now. as for not displaying japanese, i'm surprised you were able to edit around that and get it squeezed vertically. |

It probably would look better BTW in large posts if the BG was in the bottom. Instead of the top which you have currently.
