Not to mention that my band plans on releasing a demo at the end of the summer (when me and my bassist are so fried that we pretty much aren't going to be alive )

I need to get that Probot album. And Air's Talkie Walkie. 2004 sounds exciting. Already, one of the best industrial albums in a long ass time has come out, about a month ago: throb. by haloblack. More exciting stuff to come...

2k3 was a bad year overall for my favourite genres, death got SFU's new SHIT album. Black metal got Hate Me! by Darkthrone. Which, as cool as it was, just wasn't BM.

So far, 2k4 seems to be a far better year for one reason. Probot.

Foom- This is where I have two opinions on music... I have the taste in music that I would prefer to listen to, and the taste in music that I respect...

I would say that the best AFI album musically is Sing the Sorrow... It is a masterpiece, is adventurous for the band, and appeals more to my respectful taste.

Art of Drowning is an album I would like to listen to more, though... It appeals more to my preference...

I guess it's the difference in opinion between my head and my heart.

Does anyone else feel the same way about music taste?

AFI sing the sorrow was alright. not their best. I kinda got tired of AFI anyway.
The Darkness "Permission to land" is a really good CD.
I can't remember if Relient K "Two wrongs don't make a left ... but three do" came out in 2003, but that's an awesome CD as well, and Five Iron Frenzy's "The end is Near" (which releases in stores this year)...
Blink 182's self titled i didn't liek at first, but after awhile i started enjoying it more and more. Something Corporate's "North", you cna't go wrong with. MxPx "Before and everything after", another awesome CD.... and that's pretty much all the 2003 Cds i own. aha.

Last year was owned by AFI in my opinion. The two other bands that I usually like, namely Limp Bizkit and the Offspring, disappointed me.

Limp Bizkit it nothing without Wes, and The Offspring's Splinter was just so damned short. Hit That is ok, but the keyboard element is just bizarre and mismatched. When You're In Prison sounded more Blink 182 than The Offspring, and while funny, it was too out of character.

Sing the Sorrow is a true masterpriece. It's incredible how AFI have followed up The Art of Drowning with an even more spectacular and atmospheric album. Such an even is rarely known anymore Album of the decade, so far, shortly followed by Rammstein's Mutter and System of a Down's Toxicity

Doesn't matter what you bought, just what you heard and thought to be really good albums.

Can't say I bought many CDs last year but all the ones I did buy were good. AFI's 'Sing the Sorrow' is one of my favourite albums ever. I listened to it every day untill quite recently. Also Funeral For A Friend's 'Casually Dressed...'

only bought 5 CDs last year, and 4 are pre 2003. So the remaining CD I will mention:

Mario & Zelda Big Band Live

Blast! To believe I'd actually forgotten Cave In's Antenna in this list. And Children of Bodom's Hate Crew Deathroll came out too, and what a swank album it is. The Darkness' Permission to Land is also real swank.

I might as well just list off all the rest of the albums from last year that I liked in some way or another.

Bile - Frankenhole: The Reanimation of Dead Tissue

I don't know about the rest of you, but I bought a considerable amount of CDs that were released last year, and so I came up with a list of all the ones I've heard so far and really, really like. There's no real order to this list...and there are more albums that had been released, but these are the ones I get the most enjoyment out of.

SikTh - The Trees Are Dead & Dried out, Wait for Something Wild
AFI - Sing the Sorrow
Coheed and Cambria - In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3
Psychotica - Pandemic
The Devin Townsend Band - Accelerated Evolution
Cradle of Filth - Damnation and a Day
KMFDM - WWIII
Strapping Young Lad - SYL
ohGr - SunnyPsyOp
Static-X - Shadow Zone

Profoundly good CDs, in my opinion, all of them. Exactly 10... So I guess that's my top-10 or something.
