I sincerely doubt that your CPU is going to unexpectedly 'mess up' and become the exact equivilant of the PS2's, while at the same time, so does everything else in your PC, including the OS.

But that requires expensive extra hardware to use. |

It could happen!
Yes it could it indeed, it's random. This might sound like bullshit to most people, but it CAN happen. |

Buy a PS2 like the rest of the globe...emulation is the last resort really...buy the damn stuff instead of emulating them if you can.
PS2 emulation...pah...check back in about 4 or 5 years...maybe then they might have that case under a stable wrap but I wouldn't even bother right now...you could probably use that PS2 controller or whatever you have for a good ZSNES run or whatever...or maybe even a PSX emu if your system is even capable enough of running that...but otherwise...you're SOL. |

It will not work without a proper emulator. Case closed.
Stop while you can. |

Oopsss... Forgot about that. Could it work if your computer has become all messed up? I sounded stupid in my first post, haven't I? |

It wouldn't work because even if it can read the CD, the drive/PC has no idea how to boot/execute/emulate the game without the help of an emulator. |

There's *NO* working PS2 emulators out there. None. There are SOME that are making progress but if you're buying games just to be able to play them on your PC, you're out of luck at the moment. Even IF an emulator came out, there's no guarantee it supports the game you purchased. |

It's a waste if you intend on running the PS2 games on your PC. There isn't any publically available emulators that can run games. So if you want to play PS2 games, the only way to do so is to buy a PS2. |

The PS2 isn't that expensive I bought one with an 8mb memory card, a controller, FFX, FFX2, Nightfire, and Kingdom Hearts for $207.98. |

There isn't a PS2 emulator that is currently available to the public. Though it is in the progress. I am rather impressed by the work most have so far. But don't expect a PS2 emulator anytime soon. Just get a PS2 itself, and if you want to play burns, then get the PS2 modded. At least you will know that it is 100% compatible.
The newest console that has a public emulator is Dreamcast, and that was JUST released. Gamecube is VERY far into the emulation production so, you may see that one next.
All the Dreamcast emulators are in VERY good progress too. Look at Changa and Icarus. |

It takes me nearly an hour to download an N64 game for the emulator, so I could only imagine how long it would take for a PS2 game.
Anyway, I haven't seen any good PS2 emulators, really. In truth, I haven't seen any PS2 emulators. |

I haven't heard of any good PlayStation 2 emulator yet, just PSF2 rips of PlayStation 2 game music ...
If you can get the controller and enough games to play, why not get the console while it's not old and outdated yet? |

Yeah, you can check Zophar's, though I highly doubt that any desktop computer today would be powerful enough to run one, even if it were fully operational. And as Neko said, good luck finding games to download for it. Unless you already have them, in which case buying a PS2 would be MUCH simpler. |
