Even if it doesn't load any faster, it draws before it's done, so you don't have to wait for some big image just to read some text, which is still loads better than IE.

Firefox does NOT load faster than IE. The only difference is that it loads stream by stream instead of waiting for the whole picture to load before it's displayed. That's why people think it's faster. It's not.

Tabbed browsing is nice, yesh.

Google's pop-up blocker is all you really need.

Firefox pwns. I like it so much because of the following features it offers:

- A standards-compliant rendering engine that is constantly being improved. (In contrast, IE doesn't even fully support CSS1, and it hasn't had a major update since 2001.)
- A built-in popup eater that works quite well.
- Site-specific image and cookie blocking. This is very handy for killing off persistent advertiser cookies and irritating animated banner ads.
- Tabbed browsing, which allows you to open up a bunch of sites in the same window. This saves taskbar space and lets you easily jump between tabs using keyboard shortcuts or mouse gestures (more on that later).
- A slew of extensions that add incredibly useful features. I'd go nutzoid without pie menus, which are essentially mouse gestures with visual feedback. (A standard mouse gesture plugin is available, too. If you're the sort of person who likes to use their mouse, any of those plugins will make your browsing experience far more efficient.) At work, I use Web Developer to help me quickly debug site layout troubles.
- Speed and stability. In my experience, Firefox runs smoothly, renders pages quickly, and crashes rarely. Its Windows build does have a known bug that causes it to eat memory after you leave it open for a few days, but the browser has so much to offer that I feel this is a minor shortcoming.
