No reason you should be bitter.

Well, it's not your fault that people just migrated to Win98 and broke all kinds of native support and whatnot. Besides, if you can run Win95 with no problems, 98 should be a piece of cake.

Really? I was given the option of Windows 98 or Windows 95 with a root canal, and I thought the latter was the obvious answer. let me call up the OS fairy and get a new version. Or if that doesn't work, I can download it. Let me call up the internet fairy and get a T3. Why didn't I realize this sooner?! THANKS GUYS!

sorry. i guess i'm a little sensitive over the "get a better product" response. as if I was fucking raised by wolves and couldn't figure it out.

not that I'm bitter.

Ashley's using Windows.

You could use the SDL version if you were really stuck, I think... or you can download a bootleg copy of Windows 98. Some stuff still works with Win95 but it's hit and miss - MANY commercial games/applications don't offer support for Win95 now. Basically, if the game/app works, it works. If it doesn't, then you should upgrade your OS.

Sure there is - get a friend's Win98.

DirectX is no longer supported, but I downloaded an older version. It should work.. I don't know how to test it without using VBA itself. Maybe I should try another emulator?

As for the filename, it only does that when I transfer a folder from the mac to the PC. I never bothered to change it myself.

You know, when I installed Windows 95 (which isn't even from the box, it's a friend's bootleg thing), I got a few errors. It was late and I was confused so I just kept hitting "skip", and everything was fine, as far as I knew.. XD

HyperHacker, so there's nothing I can do about it then?

"The VBA.EXE file is linked to missing export KERNEL32.DLL:IsProcessorFeaturePresent"

Well that just means it's not compatible with your OS. What it means is that the function IsProcessorFeaturePresent() in KERNEL32.DLL is missing (not in this version). You can't just replace that file, it's a core element of Windows.

i believe directX is no longer supported for Win95 after a certain version...but I'm not confident about that answer. I know a lot of stuff doesn't work with Win95 after a certain point in Win98 development...

You're not supposed to be able to replace KERNEL32.DLL since that's always loaded, it's a main DLL file.

I kinda found that funny that it was giving that error after I gave her MFC42.DLL...I was wondering if her DirectX was out of date or if it just really isn't compatible with Windows 95.

Is VisualBoy Advance even compatible with Windows 95? (should be, but ... )

But yeah, those errors happen because you have old versions of the DLL's, that don't contain some specific functions the program uses ...

*looks at "VISUALBO.BTM" in the directory name*
... old DOS filename format? Windows 95 supports longer filenames, is that not working either?

"The VBA.EXE file is linked to missing export KERNEL32.DLL:IsProcessorFeaturePresent"

that flat out makes no sense to me. I decided to download the dll anyway, and I'm unable to replace the current version I have.
Let's see how long these problems last for me. Ooh it's a game!

It's either or actually..but it could be that the DLL 'MFC42.DLL' is an incompatible version if she doesn't have those preliminaries down.

I believe you may need mfc42.dll in your windows\system32 folder

Did you put that specific dll in the VBA folder?

Oh, and it's VISUAL boy advance, not virtual

I'm new to windows, so bare with me.

I've installed every DLL it asked, but when I installed that particular DLL, I get those errors. I redownloaded it and got the same problem. I don't understand what's going on.
