About three months ago, I saw this book sitting on a shelf at a local bookstore, and it looked pretty good. My mother rented the movie tonight, and while I couldn't remember anything about the plot, I watched it with her.
It was an alright movie. I must first admit that in my sitting down to watch it, Jennifer Connelly was a big deciding factor. However, the movie was actually worthwhile. It wasn't mind-blowing by any means, and I really hated how completely stupid a lot of the characters were throughout most of the film, but the last half-hour of it was pretty good. It gave a different perspective on the personalities involved, and it got pretty dramatic. Looking back now, I realize that it wouldn't be surprising to find that the second half of the movie had a completely different director. I don't think that's the case, though.
Anyone else see this? Any opinions? Or have you read the book? It seems as if it might be the kind of story that was better as a book, but I wouldn't want to put myself through the agony of watching those characters make all the same mistakes over again if the book wasn't worth it. |
