It seems like Roland Emerich's favorite passtime is making CGs of destroying the world's landmarks. It's getting old now. I wish Roland Emerich and Dean Devlin would go back to what they did with Stargate, which was an incredible film.

Uh, well...I laughed a few times because they had good jokes in this movie.

This...movie...sucked...ASS!

My god, I almost walked out. I've never done that before. The only reason I didn't was because I needed a ride home.

Anyway, dialouge was corny, acting was terrible (Even from Donnie Darko himself), and the plot was pointless. This whole movie was pointless. Was it trying to inspire me or something? Ugh!

But the worse part was the special effects. Watch the scene where NY is flooding. It will show a birds eye view. The cars will start to be shoved away BEFORE the water hits them. Then they kind of do this fade out thing and disapear. WTF?!

And there's a big frame skip too. In the library where it's just the hobo and the dog. The hobo guy will walk towards his dog and BAM! He teleports about 4 feet right next to the dog.

Shitty shitty movie. I should have watched that one movie about the chick from 24 playing a porn star. She's hot. God damn, she's hot.

I saw it yesterday...

Even though some things in the movie are impossible. The general idea is possible, just like in most other movies like this one...

I don't think it's bad or anything like that. It's a pretty good movie in general. The only thing I don't like is how it doesn't really show what happens to other countries. Most of the movie only concentrates on America, and we have no idea what happens with the countries to the east after that...

I just got back from it tonight. Impressions...

Highly suspenseful. One of the more "spine chilling" sci-fi movies to this day. Too bad a lot of it's impossible (I don't want to "spoil" it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, so I won't get into that). What it does well in, though, is giving off a message. That's what movies are (sometimes) meant to do is it not? Well, this movies gives off just as strong a message as it does well in matching the criteria for films of it's genre. What it did poorly in (which is rare and in between), it more than made up for it's brilliant effects and suspenseful chase sequences. I give it 4.5 stars out of 5.

It's made by the same people who made Independence Day as I recall. As I thought of that as a stupid worthless run of the mill film I imagine this will be as well. But I have been called a movie snob before so keep that in mind.

I saw it tonight. Its okay. Probably worth a matinee. There's nothing hidden about the message in the movie: "Global warming is bad, mmmkay?"

The more interesting special effects are towards the beginning of the movie, but the story and writing is just good enough to keep the average person interested until the credits roll.

Honestly, I cannot really describe what in particular I liked about this movie, but it did have some sort of likeable quality. If you have disposable income, you should probably see it. But if you only see a few movies each year, I would pass.

Oooh...I got that one too...actually, saw it on cable a few weeks ago. Some like it hot, eh?

Anyway, I've never been one to listen/read what reviewers have to say. Usually go by what I know I like and people from here and friends and such.

I'm just thinking that this could be one of thise "care for the enviroment" sort of movies where there's this hidden message and so on.

Hmmm... Maybe I'll just watch ID4. Or Time Machine...hmmm..end of the world (actually, close enough to, but anyway...)

When I was about ten years old, I started thinking about how cool a movie about a post-apocalyptic ice age could be. I almost wanted to write up a script, but I didn't have enough ideas to work with.

Seeing the commercials for this, I was originally very interested. However, I'm now starting to think it couldn't really live up to my ideals. Given the right people, this theme could be worked into a fantastic movie. Instead, it's likely to be just another film that will come and go, followed by several clones.

Heh, maybe I'm weird, but after seeing the trailers, I was like "this won't be worth my time." C'mon! It's about an ice age which will never happen (global warming) and the entire "plot" seems to just be about preparing for something inevitable, and everyone dies in NYC. And the rest of the world gets trounced too. And then the few people left in the world live on top of snow. Which is on top of the ocean which has risen. And the skyscrapers are still erect despite all those tornadoes and crap. And then it's all about these people surviving. And then what happens after that, I don't even care. In other words, unless I magically hear some things about the movie having a good plot, my status of not seeing the movie will remain the way it is.

I want to see it, but knowing my mother, that won't happen.

Hopefully I'll be able to rent it down the line.

Here is the website for this movie.

When I saw the trailer for the first time, I was like OMG, that I had to see this movie. I sorta have this thing about action movies and movies that show the world at the brink of it's end (like in ID4).

But I heard that this movie only has one really cool action scene and then it gets pretty lame from there.

Has anyone seen it yet?
