More deaths have occured in soccer as a result of heart problems in the past 2 years. Not heading.

Show me a player who died due to an injury that was caused by heading. I dare you.

They should probably ban slide tackles too while they're at it.

And disallow goalies to come out of the box.

Let's not forget shooting...that could hit someone in the head.

Ooh, and no more throw ins. You might pull an arm muscle.

Yeah I was just going to mention that if you do something physical and get paid for it, it may come with the territory to risk personal injury over the long term. Cross country runners risk injuring their knees over time. Boxers risk brain damage and arthritis in their knuckles, American Football players get injured all the damn time. So I think the notion of banning this is malarky.

Might have.

Then again, I don't know how many players end up with brain damage when they finish their careers. Heck, some boxers take MORE punishment than soccer players (head wise) and turn out fine.

I've been trying to do a bicycle kick off a corner for TEN YEARS. And I don't suck.
I guess at the top level you're expected to.

And I thought Adidas did something with their ball, where it was more cushioned, for the new World Cup ones they made?

You can score off a corner via a bicycle kick.

Of course, if you mess that up you could land on your head anyways so... yeah.

There's been calls to stop heading in minor leagues and that, but I figure that if it's that much of a problem, maybe they should look at the BALL first and see if any changes can be made to it. Nothing revolutionary, just maybe provide a bit more cushion or something.

Remember, just cause he sent it to FIFA doesn't mean they'll accept it. They won't. It would be stupid.

The most I've ever done in a game was around 15-20...and I have no ill effects.

I saw some study by some college that the injuries come from improper heading. If you know where and how to, then you should be fine.

From what I know that fact is real... but that brain damage shouldn't affect the players that much that there needs a ban.

And honestly, how much does the average football player "head"? They maybe just studied harcore "headers".

wtf.

That is so dumb...I've played soccer for 10 years now, and I have had aproximtely 0 injuries sustained to my head. Or any other part of my body for that matter.

If you don't know how to head the ball in FIFA....I don't know how you got there.

Mr. Rod Markham, an Australian researcher, has sent a letter to FIFA asking that they ban heading from football games! Why don't we just go ahead and stop playing football altogether, hm? Without heading, the game loses a lot. "Corner means goal," is an old Norwegian saying. I'd like to see anyone score on a corner if they're not allowed to head the ball. Crosses would be pretty much dead, altogether (yeah, it is possible to score on a volley, of course, but no one would want to try for a cross anymore, anyway). The game would all in all be radically changed. If FIFA accepts Mr. Markham's proposal, well, it'd be a heavy blow to football.
