As for Starcraft, at least in Germany the numer of players in StarCraft/BroodWar beats WarCraft3/The Frozen Throne in Battle.Net.
SC/BW simply is balanced almost perfectly, tactics like masses of one unit type only works against newbies or people who forget to scout the enemies' (tactics), for all other people some units support the other ones; like Valkyrie and Wraiths for Terran air force

For Zelda, I'd go with Zelda III too; it simply has the best dungeon design ever, plus the searching for hidden items and pieces of hearts is really addictive (on the first weekend I got it I spent nearly all the time on that game )

LttP definitely grabs my vote, and it's who I have going through to the next round.

BTW, who else here has an entry in, and if so, how many points do you have right now?

Yeah, StarCraft was a popular game and all, but it's basically the Scorpion of 2004 (If you don't remember the original Character Battle, its Final Eight consisted of 7 staple characters...and Scorpion) as far as I'm concerned.

And going by one very simple criterion--how many times I played through the game--LttP would get my vote in this instance.

I'm not surprised at all about Starcraft winning over Wind waker... thought I do prefer the CnC series.

I voted for LTTP, Chrono trigger... good game but overrated. And LTTP is way better.

Yeah, but it's a FF game. That's why I was a wee bit surprised... it was close but...

Starcraft's one of the most popular online games of all time, and it came out in 1998 I believe. Heck, Blizzard just released a *PATCH* for it a few weeks ago! And it's still played at the World Cyber Games.

...But I can't figure out how it made the Elite Eight.

Colin, it's no surprise that SSBM would beat FFX. SSBM has a massive following on GameFAQs. If it were FFVII things might be different, but...

However, it's a total surprise to me that Starcraft beat Wind Waker. O.o'' What the hell? I know *nothing* about Starcraft. How can the game have got so big when nobody ever seems to ever mention it?

Chrono Trigger against ALttP? ALttP deserves to win, in my opinion. It's just more fun... And felt more polished. It's the game in the Zelda series that made Zelda what it is... Utterly legendary in gaming. Appropriately. ^-^

Chrono Trigger did away with the annoying Random Battles. Don't feel like battling? Chances are you can avoid conflict.
Chrono Trigger had amazing visuals at times (FFVI was solid, just not as breathtaking)
Chrono Trigger had great music, on par to FFVI, at times better, at times worse, overall I have more CT fave tracks than I do FFVI.
Chrono Trigger was original, first of it's kind, first of it's series, a breath of fresh air. FFVI was the .....6th of it's kind, full of the same (only tweaked) systems, ideas, and fallbacks.
Not to say some of CT wasn't cliche as well for an RPG, just not as much as FFVI.

Starcraft beat Wind Waker. *blinks*

SSBM's going to beat FFX. *blinks again*

Like a #16 seed would do this well in the NCAA's.

FFVI is better than CT in my opinion. It's a masterpiece. I didn't feel that with Chrono Trigger.

Nothing on the SNES compares to the opening sequence of the magitech armours marching on Narche.

The original Link's Awakening was rediculously full of glitches. That one was the biggest, but I believe there are a load of other ones, like being able to "pick-up" pieces of the screen at points as if they were pots or hedges. It was amazing that the developers managed to let so many things slip past them like that, but it certainly made for a great replayability factor!

Yea, DS, if you press select (map screen button) while you're in the middle of switching screens, you get warped to the opposite end of the new screen you would be on. But it doesn't work in DX

It's fun to do that glitch in caves. I managed to get the instrument for Eagle's Tower without ever gettin the sword... but then I got stuck on the tower entrance because there was no door.

I like both, but i'd go with Chrono Trigger. The Battle system is better among other things.

I liked Links Awakening better than LttP too, but maybe because I had so much fun abusing a glitch in it (The original B&W version).. LttP had a better engine, though.. And the Dark World idea was cool.

Link's Awakening [GB[C]] kicks the crap out of LttP any day for me. But ... eh, I'd have to give a "Neither" on this poll. I hate RPGs with a passion. =P

Well, actually it's because I suck at them, but ...

I also voted on MGS today. And I have actually played the first MGS just not much of it... great game but I couldn't get into it...

I can't seem to get into any Final fantasy game either.

Saying that Lttp is perfect is stretching it thought, I know no games who is perfect.

Plus A Link to the Past is just a much better game than FFVI... Well... In *my* opinion. It did far more for gaming than FFVI did... FFVI was wonderful, and it's the cream of the FF games, but it didn't do as much for gaming as a whole as I believe ALttP did.

ALttP is virtually perfect, refined and utterly enjoyable. FFVI has flaws...

I voted for MGS simply because I think VII is the most overrated game in existance. At least on GameFAQs.

That's really not all that surprising, actually. Zelda is the one Unstoppable Force that's equivilant to FF on GameFAQs (You'll recall that Link actually won the Summer 2002 character battle).

Zelda beat FFVI. Ahahahahhaha. I wish you could go back and check the records.

Today is FFVII vs. Metal Gear Solid. It's a no duh situation.

Chrono Trigger had time travel, and a floating island, which both rule

Oh, and it had a good plot, too.. Well, so did FFVI.. But I just liked Chrono Trigger better.. But if it was Chrono CROSS VS. FFVI, then FFVI would get my vote.. I didnt like CC too much.
