Smallhacker: And if you don't know how to edit GFX? Or ASM? Or even OW editing? Group hacking is good if you don't know too much about smw ediitng.
Aioria: 23879263 different level designs are better than only 1.
Kyouji: I agree with you in the ExGFX workshop thing, but this thing that sprites don't fit is just wtf.
The problem with group hacks is that they die right after they are created. |

The best person to do a group hack together with is with a clone of yourself.
Edit: - Yeah, I agree too! - Then why do you edit my post? Make your own account! - Sorry, but the username "Smallhacker" is buzy, so I can't. - Oh... |

That would actually be intresting, as long the two difffrent level themes appears in diffrent worlds...
Group hacks are intresting, the few I have seen seems promising... |

That was me... and who said I was complaining?
I tried it once(a partnership that is).... never got around to finishing it(the hack)...
Trust me. I have first hand experience with a partnership,(Not telling who ) and if the two(or 3, or 4....) of you do not communicate, the hack will fall apart, like ours did.
Its a good idea in theory(Like communism*ducks*) but it just doesnt work very well. |

Yes, I believe I overreacted and I am sorry. I thought he was just following up on what he said on the other thread. And like I said in the other thread, it's not that I think that everything must have the original Mario graphics, but rather that if someone is going to change the graphics, they ought to change all of them instead of just the foreground, which is what typically happens. It's so easy to change foreground graphics thanks to the ExGFX workshop which has little to no sprite graphics (last time I checked anyway) that people are often discouraged of doing the work themselves, and thusly, they simply leave the sprite graphics as they are. It is of my opinion the ExGFX workshop should probably be taken down for that reason, but, I am in no position of authority to get such a thing done, and so I don't bring it up much. |

I think he's talking about the fact that you have a very different hacking style than most other people. He's saying that you couldn't match with anyone because everyone has a different hacking style than you. Me, I'm almost the opposite of you, believing that simple Mario world gfx are somewhat boring. |

wtf What is wrong with a few different level designs? I would rather play a hack with original level design than one with linear level design.
i guess you misunderstood my post....

only if the 2 authors have the same hacking style, or else the hack will turn into a mixed shit
but if is like, someone making all the levels and the other person does the exgfx, ow, etc, then it can be turn into a great hack, and it will be finished faster by the authors. |

Although it could get done faster, it's usually not a good idea unless the two of your are VERY alike. DWTLC was done by two people, FuSoYa and his brother, and it turned out great; but probably only because they were siblings and thus very similar. Two people with completely different styles with a group hack would be strange. Like going from hard but solvable puzzles with little being annoying to nigh-impossible jumps. IE: Kyouji + Just about anyone = bad |

I believe someone thought of this before, most people thought it wouldnt work, but if someone worked at it hard enough I think they could pull it off.. |

Now, I might be uninformed about this subject, but what do you think about "group hacks?" Group hacks would be hacks that are actively worked on by more than one person, obviously. Someone was complaining about unfinished hacks, and this is the perfect solution. You can give your hack to someone else to finish, or you can start your own hack with other people, and the hack can be continued if someone quits. Plus, it opens up interesting ideas for overworld and level design.
Picture this: You have two people designing levels for a hack. They each make their own series of levels. Then, you create an overworld where you pick which set of levels you play for that world. Well, it's only an idea... |
