Won't work with a 9800? You must have no AGP slot?
If that's the case, forget video upgrades. A GF4 MX is the fastest you can get for it. It MIGHT be able to play SOME stuff, but games liek Far Cry... forget it! |

ok first of all my computer isnt going to be able to work with a 9800 iv have tried with my friends card so its not like a have alot of options here, like i said im searching for a 9600 or a 9500 is anyone is selling one or knows someone who is contact me in this thread. |

Um, SDRAM != DDRAM. And BTW, original P4 DDRs were SC, not DC, and DC RDRAM was the best until DC DDR came out. DC RDRAM only sucked because it was

With that PC, I'd limit to a 9600 Pro, as far as video cards go - any higher is WAY too much (overkill). Your CPU doesn't have the power to take advantage of a faster card - it becomes the bottleneck. But you SHOULD have at least 256MB of RAM.
A 9500 (non-Pro) would probably have more than enough performance, if he can find one on sale.
If not, then I agree... the 9600 Pro won't bottleneck his system, and he could probably even turn on some of the higher quality options. |

Well, with a P4 1.5, even RDRAM isn't that much better than SDRAM, you're talking about the Willamete core, the worst fucking processor ever - the 1.2GHz P3 is faster than a 1.5GHz P4, and a 1.2GHz Athlon (not even AthlonXP) kicks its ass too.

I don't know shit about this model and I'm not going to Dell's site to look it up...
Tell me what kind of CPU, and its speed, what kind of system RAM, etc. If it's like 800MHz or less which is likely by the sounds of your card, you're wasting money on it upgading it, because no amount of RAM or no better video card will help you play new games with any decency... your CPU would be too slow. |

You want the latest ATi card...not sure what that is...but I know it has more than enough video RAM (i believe it was 128MB of DDR RAM) and it outperforms nVidia... |

I have a dell dimension 4300S   its not a very good comp. it only has 128 mb of ram and a 16 mb ati rage pro graphics card..... (ok now thats done and over with) with much negotiation my mother (bless her heart) has decided to pitch in for a new graphics card and more memory. i have decided on a 512 mb memory upgrade which she has agreed with 100%, the only problem i have is selecting a graphics card i really have no clue what cards could be compatible with this system, could anyone give me any suggestions to what i should get? i was think something along the line of maybe 64 mb card to a 128 mb card my price range isnt very high ($50-$120) so anyone have any suggestions or help? i would really appreciate it |
