Uhh... I've been having this problem recently as I'm at home and on a different connection from the one at school. I think my router has a built in firewall. Since my computer doesn't have this icon near the clock, what is the control panel/ utility where these options were modified? i.e. to change the settings on those protocols. I'm on Win98 btw.

It can also screw up if TCP is blocked though...I forget exactly which port...but I believe it is mentioned in the troubleshooting guides.

I play netplay on ZSNES all the time. If you have a router forward the port, and always use TCP by unchecking the allow UDP box, UDP doesn't work. ZSNES has worked for me every time otherwise. Also, game names have to be the same.

Uh...Colin...we tried...seriously...that's why we had to use SNES9x 1.42 whatever instead. If it won't allow UDP and TCP ports access outside it's restrictions...then ZSNES isn't going to play online...simple as that...I've had it happen plenty of times with people on zbattle.net (when it was around).

Although to be fair, if you have a *REALLY* good firewall, you shouldn't have any problems with ZSNES. And if anything you can just configure it so that ZSNES won't be picked up by it.

(Yes, obvious but he might not have known that.)

In case it's not completely obvious (and it never is), to disable to firewall, double click the connection icon by the clock (the two computer monitors). Click the Properties button you see, then the Advanced Tab, the uncheck the box (if it is checked).

And after netplaying, it's always a good idea to reenable the firewall

You know, this might be the reason DCCs in IRC don't work for me sometimes....

I wanna play kirby or something XD

What ISP are you using? Some ISP (especially crappy onees) have "shared" IP addresses. Meaning that several persons are sharing on the same IP.

At home severeal computers share on the same WAN IP becus of the router I have, and well... it gives some problems.

1 Open
2 Type in IP
3 Hit Connect
4 Play almost lag-free

ZSNES rocks =D

Are you by and chanche behind a firewall or behind a router? They can give problems.

I can never play with UDP on, and someone else must always be the host. I hadn't got it to work well with my router... but it's all about packet forwarding.

Can any of you get ZSNES or SNES9x's netplay to work properly? If so, which one do you use more, and what's the process you follow to use it? I have tried playing people online before, but only about 50% of the time I succeed in connecting. And even then, it's slow as hell when I do connect.
