Post a link, I know it's probably on Zophar Domain somwhere, but I can't seem to find it (or is it even on ZD after all?).

TLP is useless and I could never get it to work. YY-CHR on the other hand rocked to say the least... I even hacked my entire Earthbound titlescreen using nothing but YY-CHR, whereas TLP wouldn't display anything but gibberish. But don't listen to me. I even got down to editing Mario's sprite... but there's too much animation!

I don't think I noticed that before, but that's probably because I mostly edit the ExGfx Bin files for SMW, which are to small to have a scroll bar.

It also sometimes goes crazy if you click the lower right tile in a window, but you just need to scroll down a bit.

TLP only shuts down when you drag the size of the file's window (to try to expand it), not always, but a lot of times. It also locks up when you try to import a bitmap that is too big and set it down, and that's because your trying to set more 8x8 tiles than what there is actually room for. It's like trying to force your Dryer into your Dishwasher. It just doesn't work. This is why most people try to expand the file's window size, ... to allow for more room, -> that's the equivalent of trying to expand your dishwasher walls by pulling on them, which in reality, would only rip the walls apart (except the fact that you wouldn't even be strong enough to do that). TLP is a good program if you know how to not fuck it up, just pay attention to what causes the errors and avoid them, rather than getting frusterated and trying to cripple the program further. No program goes without its errors. (AKA: NOTHINGS PERFECT)

Bah. It just takes some getting used to, is all. The only real problem with TLP is that it randomly gets errors and then refuses to do anything else until you shut it down, but that doesn't hinder your progress *that* much.

I have done a few Mario replacement hacks (that I need to get back to fixing and putting back online... ) and they are fairly easy to do. The main thing to remember is, you new sprite should have enough animations to totally replace EVERY animation frame of Mario, you don't want your new character to suddenly flash back to mario for a split second, when he jumps, swims, or something. Very unprofessional. The game attatches peices to the sides of mario, and the peices aren't located right near the main mario sprites, they are near the begining, stuff like mario's hands, and feet chunks (for when mario's sprite needs to extend horizontally past his range). The cape is an example of something attatched to mario.

You can skip the feather animations, for the cape, and swimming animations and get away with it by removing all cape items, and all water areas, so he wont' use them, but that's kind of a cheap way out. A little tougher to edit.

Bah. TLP, while glitchy, is a lot easier to use than YY-CHR.

Download a program called YY-chr and you can edit mostly anything you want with it. For a deeper explination wait for an experienced poster to reply.

BTW if you new at this I wouldn't recommend editing spirits right off the bat.
