...How about Super Mario? =P Actually, I was was thinking a Sam Fisher sprite, from the N-Gage, or the cell phone version. If I can find one, that is

Anything that looks wierd on him is his eyes. They look...yeah, wierd. And if he's Jim Raynor, he should look a little tougher. Not some little dude like that. Add a bit to him to make him look more bad-ass. Or maybe, use a different base sprite?

Oh hell no.

Oh HELL no. You go to a sprite page, get a bare MM7 sprite, and you start from THAT. Don't you dare edit someone elses custom sprite

Edit: Plus the fact that, you know, that's not cool in any way.

He has stubble. And sorry about earlier; I take criticism, even constructive, very personally. Sorry

Make the image 60 by width, and if you want to make the people using the RPG layout happy use 60 height.

Just make it 60x60 and move the sprite to the bottom, and set the rest as transparent.

On a side note I will have to agree that the sprite looks funny... his face is wierd.

Clockworkz, YD is in the right here.

This forum is (and should be) full of heavy criticism. (Constructive, that is) She makes a very valid point. Megaman sprites HAVE been done to death. You're going to want to stick to something more original if you want to impress people around here. Otherwise, you'll just get a negative response because we've seen it before. Many time.

And by touch-ups, I meant small details like making it look smoother, making the colors a bit more blended, and maybe even giving it some shading so it has some depth to it.

Obviously you didn't ask for tips, and obviously you don't have to take them. It's a modern art thread, what did you expect?
Heh, you got real offended. Sounds like I'm not the one who needs to ease up, eh?

*whines* But I like my Megaman edit! That thermos thing is a large (very large) gun. Ever play Starcraft? Hrm.... YD, ease up. It's what I want to do, kay? That's all. Besides, I wanted a decent avatar of Raynor, and not an in-game shot of the unit portrait.

Ok, I'll use this to get my point across.

The first image is my edit, the second is your original. See how it looks a little cleaner? Still, the sprite itself looks odd. Few reasons
-I went speedy through outlining.
-That thing on its back looks like a thermos.
-It's a megaman edit. Dude, Megaman edits have been done TO DEATH. Unless it's a spectacular change, almost totally different from the original, it's a general rule that custom Megaman sprite just sucks. Even if it isn't that bad, the idea that it's that very sprite.. you catch my drift?

Cache, in larm terms, is a thing that memorizes an image you've already seen. So if you view a site with image A, and then view another site with image A, the image you previously saw would be on there, to save loading time. Because you saw the sprite itself before putting it in your layout, it shows up as being seen by everyone else. But, as Leg said, you found a better host.

Like, what can I do with it? It looks kinda... eh. That's the only adjective I can think of to describe it, really: eh. What do you mean, Leg?

And how do I do the .txt thing? I changed the name, but it says jimraynor.txt.gif. Is that how it should be?

You can see it because it's still in your cache.

And don't rename it on your comp, rename it in geocities.

Like, click the rename option, and just rename the whole thing to jimraynor.txt and you'll be fine.

But it's showing up for me so I think you found a better host.

As for the sprite itself, it looks really decent as it is right now. But with some minor touch ups, it would look even better.

I'm going to comment on the sprite itself..

Why is it surrounded in a blue outline? None of the actual sprite itself is blue.. it's very odd, and makes it look like it's smudging the image in some places.

It'd help if I could see it.
Geocities doesn't allow external linking, rename the file to .txt and link to it.
I can't really see that it's Jim Raynor, although it's pretty hard to make it look reliable. And MM7 sprites are sooooo overdone.

Anyway,to get it more smooth you can either learn how to Antialias with pixelwork or just blurr it some, there's also an AA option in photoshop.

I made an avatar (as you can see) of Jim Raynor from Starcraft using a MM7 sprite. How do I make it look... ya know... non-pixilated and smaller and more normal looking, like Ailure's? Thanks.
