Some of the monitors at schools are like that...

It could be the graphic card to, I have heard of someone who had a lose graphic card. It was stuck enough for working but loose enoguh for giving wierd colours.

Zamn freak, did you actually try it on Another PC like Tomguy said? I would try that if I was you...

And if your lucky you probably get refund on it if it's broken, it's only one month old...

Well, what he's describing sounds more like a loose monitor cable or just a bad monitor... fading isn't the same as dying, and if this one's cable is tight, it sounds dead...

Try it on another PC, just to be sure.

Some monitors allow to change the colour temperatures, maybe something went wrong. You first could try to find a setting 'Restore to factory settings' in the OSD menu of the screen, if it features this option.
If you tried all the steps HH suggested before, it also might be the age of your monitor. If I'm not wrong, a normal monitor has an average life of about 40.000 to 60.000 hours until the screen fades and the colours probably lose their brightness/tone. But if you are using a TFT, I dunno know about the average life of the liquid crystals
How old is your screen ?

Most monitors have a menu feature, some button you push brings one up on screen that is. Sometimes the buttons for the controls are hidden. If you can find them, bring up the menu and look around for the degauss option. I don't know exactly what it does but it looks cool.

1) Degauss.
2) Move any magnets or anything with speakers away from it.
3) Change resolutions (and change back if desired).
4) Turn it off/on, or unplug it and plug it back in.
5) Give it a good smack.
