Just Another Amazing Hack...

Do not use a filter. Just make Screenshots like BMF does...

I hate when people use the filter. I personally hate the 2xSai filter.

And well... personally the titlescreen could be little more cheerful.

JJ, just a tip... Don't double (or triple or whatever) the size of your screenshots, unless you take the screenshots with a 2xSai filter enabled or something. Pixellated screenshots look lovely when they're small and cute, like the screenshot BMF posted, but when expanded to that size, they just look blocky. Most players use Zsnes with some kind of filter enabled, either a fancy one like 2xSai or one that looks similar to how a Tv screen would look. Because otherwise the games look nasty and... Kinda inaccurate, if you see what I mean.

That's what floppy disks are for.

Nice graphics, but the font is a bit hard to read when there's a lot of text. I also agree you should use a less depressing level for the title.

Every night I've got the same nightmare over and over again where JJ posts that his harddrive broke and that every backup of this hack was corrupt... :'(

Edit:
By the way... Looking great!

Ooh...looking real good! I love that font, it looks great! You're doing a great job with your GFX, your design is very original.

Nice work, JJ. It looks like it is going to get even better. I like the new text and status bar. Keep up the good work.

View the font up close and personal. You can also see the new-ish status bar, which really only has the item box slightly editted (I plan to do more to it later) and some of the fonts have been tinkered with a little bit.

For people following the hack, I think it's good that the title screen changes to reflect the most current updates. Since the final version is going to be different, I really don't see the problem.

It looks very good, too .

I think the best solution to the title screen problem is to make one that has almost nothing to do with the game itself. See, with mine, you have no idea what to expect, aside from maybe space travel.

Oh, yeah...the title screen music byte is at $18C7.

Do you, perhaps, remember the location of this byte? I'm sure I'm not the only one who is curious about it.

There *IS* a byte that allows you to change the title screen music. My hack uses SMB3 music, and its title screen music is the starman music.

It's not that it's bad, it's just that it lacks cheeriness to match the title screen music!

Well, maybe you should make the title screen more cheerful. This way, when you're playing the beginning of the game through the Candy World, the mood of the game will seem very happy and optimistic. Then, when it suddenly changes to dreary, it will provide a good little twist to what was expected from the first world. Personally, I don't think you (in general) should reveal later parts in the game via the title screen, because that may ruin surprises and themes that are figured out later on. However, I think a good idea would be to place little secret, covert things in the title screen that foreshadow to things later in the game, rather than just explicitly exhibiting what will come later. But I think you did a fine job though, the only problem is that it doesn't fit with the title screen atmosphere.
