He died in 2001, of lung cancer. 64 years old.. so he was reaching there anyway.

I was expecting the cartoon as the style in the film and now I saw a pic of it... and I'm not sure about it.

Whatever happened to Lorenzo Music? He used to do the voice in Garfield and Friends, but Slash Dafter says he's dead?? I never knew

The farm is where Jon grew up. It focuses on the rest of Jon's family and the cooky critters that live on his family's farm. I'm not too sure why the producers went there, but I guess Garfield just ran out of overused jokes.

That sounds like the stereotypical internet addict.

come on, you loved it.
I know Jon's voice fit his character.. I don't remember Doc Boy.. nor did I understand why the cartoon would suddenly switch to some farm animal bullshit..

I remember the cartoon, as well. I might not have seen that many episodes, but I always thought the voices fit their characters . . . except for Doc Boy, that is.

THERE'S BEEN A THREAD ON THIS STOP DISCUSSION NOW

I think this movie will be successful as far as money goes, because of the younger kids.. it's probably the target audience anyway.
Anyone remember the Garfield cartoon? Oh man. I also used to have these books with tapes that would read the books outloud, and Garfield would do his voice.. that voice he always has bothers me to no end.

I'll see it just to see how much Davis has butchered the series. There has already been a thread on this, BTW.

Davis was putting out great Garfield strips in the 1980s. But even Garfield at its height isn't half as good as Fox Trot. And just to stay on-topic, does anyone know where I can find a picture of the CGI Garfield? All search attempts have failed. I'll go check out that movie link in the first post and see if there's one there.

I'll definitely see it eventually probably download it before it even comes out in theaters, lol

but yeah it probably won't be super duper good

Not sure if I want to see this one. The cartoon was okay. Even though I don't remember much about it . I'd just wait until it reaches video..or TV..which may not take very long . Well it might, you never know

I can't believe they didn't make a movie like this sooner, with the influx of cartoon and novelty movies

Kefka does have a bit of a point there. I don't know how many times I've heard the same old crap on Seinfeld greeted with applause and laughter.

In fact, I can't really tollerate Jerry Seinfeld as a comedian, most of the time. However, the show was pretty good...

Wait a second. I just realized how horridly off-topic I am. Uhm... I've pretty much said all that I can say about Garfield, sssooo... look over there! *runs*

Well, the comic in the first place isn't that good. C'mon, the only thing it has is repetitive physical humor, bashes on Jon, and "OMG, I'm fat/lazy/whatever!" I enjoy reading it from time to time, but reading the same jokes in different formats just dulls your mind . . . like Cathy.

Or Seinfeld... no seriously, he used the same jokes OVER and OVER... yet it never got dull. Now, that doesn't mean this movie won't blow, but it just shows you that SOMETIMES you can get away with using the same crap over and over and still be funny.

This is going to be retarded. There's no question in my mind. Like, you can think, well Shrek MIGTH be good, but this movie.. no. just no.
The comic blows. Repetitive.. not funny.. he doesn't even draw the strips himself.

While it does look better than some other movie conversions, I am still a bit leery of the whole idea. If I want to see a movie about wisecracking talking animals generated by computer graphics, I'll save my cash for Shrek.

I'm optimistic about the movie, despite the constructive criticism. It will be different though without the original voice actor, but you can't use him if he's dead.

As for the movie, I'm not too psyched about it, but it does take a turn from the regular strip. I mean, he's actually leaving that stupid counter for once. This just might open up some new horizon for Jim Davis, but I shouldn't really get my hopes up. I'm still going to see the movie, since I'm a die-hard comic fan and all. I just hope they did the fat cat some justice.

The old ones were much better, when Davis still had fresh ideas in his head.

Yea... that part of me that said "well... he's not in cartoon... and there catch phrase 'it's all about me-ow' is kinda stupid.... umm...." is opening up more to become "this movie's gonna blow"

Yet I thought the Scooby Doo movies would blow too, but I actually found them relatively humorous (yes, I watched em )... so I have no clue until it comes out. At which point I'll see what Roger Ebert says and then base my final decision to go see it or not on that.

Maddox said it best.

This movie is going to womp, just like the cartoon has for the last 32 years of repeats.
