I somehow had a feeling he'd get off on the serious charge. Too many conflicting reports in that case.
So... think they'll just give him probation for the other charges, or is he stewing in jail for 5 years? ![](images/smilies/tongue.gif) |

They're talking to one of the jurors... she says that they were split 8-4 on the reckless manslaughter charge, leaning towards not guilty. Shalisha Martin, the juror in question, said the jury wasn't convinced that it was anything more than an accident.
pfft. Jay Williams WOMPS. Well, not really, but still.
And how accidental is blowing some guy away with a shotty? When drunk. |

Oof.
I was just watching ESPN news not 20 minutes ago and they were talking about it.
Can't say I feel bad for him though...
*edit* Not to mention he has the same name (although spelled a little different) as Jason Williams of the Grizzlies. |

...of FOUR of the eight charges against him. It's just coming down now, so no link, but he was found guilty of tampering with evidence, tampering with witnesses, hindering apprehension, and fabricating physical evidence. He was cleared on aggravated manslaughter, aggravated assault, and criminal possession of a weapon. Reckless homicide is still floating out there, though, and they more than likely won't retry him on this.
If you don't know the story, here's what happened. Williams was a basketball player, with the Nets (he was retired when this happened, though). One night, he allegedly drunkenly shot his limo driver while screwing around with his guns (if you'd seen his segment on Cribs, you'd know he is a bit of a shotgun aficionado). Then he tried to cover it up to make it look like a suicide. |
