You are my new favorite person

Anvil Studio is free, yes. That's what I did to make this arrangement of "In Dreams", a song in The Fellowship of the Ring.

As for Finale Notepad, yeah, it costs money. The "good" version of it is way expensive too.

Hahaha, have fun trying to hack SMB1's music. I've hacked around 10 or so NES game's music, and that is hands down the most complex, rediculously hard format to work with.

Changing one or two bytes has insane, unpredictable effects on the songs.
I finally just said to hell with it and gave up.

Ah yes, Weasel and Finale Notepad... Actually, you need to pay for that one, so Weasel didn't get it, I turned him on to Anvil Studio, which you CAN save with.

Yes, is there any programs or ways of changing the music in mario bros. 1, or for further fun any NES game, or even more funner, and SNES game...

...if so, the information on where to get one would be lovely...also where I can get a free program for making my own midi.

HelP!

1. More funner? Go back to school, kid. It'll be more worthwhile to ya than making midis.

2. As for the music editors, the others have gone into that enough, so I don't need to.

(j/k on #1, btw)

And even then, some of the games use compression, so it can't edit those.

Oh, I never said changing NES music couldn't be done, but a Universal Music editor for NES games isn't possible.

Well, it is not so hard as in the SNES format, and I had long time ago one atempt to change the music in SMB3 for the SMB3ORY hack. So this can be done, but I do not remember changing the music in SMB1ORY

Unforunately, there is no universal music editor, or even a music editor for SMB or 99% of the games that exist. NES wise, all games have their own music formats, thus, a universal music editor is highly improbable. I'm not totally sure on SNES or other console music, but there doesn't seem to be a universal editor for their formats either.
