It wasn't really a major problem. Essentially, I got away with the date switch for a couple of weeks, but suddenly I began to get a message whenever I tried to log in that stated that I could not continue playing without the consent of a guardian. Not sure what happened there, but my mom had to call to get me back into the game.

Problems arose anyway and, in the end, my mother had to speak with a Verant representative on the phone just to get the thing worked out. It kind of backfired.

Wow, that womps. Why / what were the problems that came up?

Normally I would, but I'll avoid taking that route this time. Not only does Sony already have all of my personal information, including my birthdate (because I currently subscribe to EverQuest), but when the whole Online Child Protection Act was established not too long ago, I had problems with it.

I was a few months from turning 13, and the law required that no personal information be collected from children younger than 13. Trying to avoid my mother's involvement in the game (because I already felt guilty enough that she was paying ~$12.00 a month for it), I went in and set my birthdate back by a year so it would appear as if I was already of sufficient age.

Problems arose anyway and, in the end, my mother had to speak with a Verant representative on the phone just to get the thing worked out. It kind of backfired.

Anyhow, yeah, I can wait for it to be released. I'm waiting for The Sims 2 as well, so when they arrive they can both be a complete surprise .

I'll just register a Station name...

*runs into some of the worst lag he's seen in quite some time*

...Geez, the WoW signup was smoother than this.

Hmm, this is the first game I've seen where the recommended specs go beyond what I have. Well, for memory and processor anyway. Ugh. Time to upgrade.

You say that with such ease.
I have to order parts to my friends house if I ever want to upgrade, because new parts will=more computer time. More computer time means bad grades (since apparently my highest honors wasn't enough)...says mother superior

The sign ups were down earlier due to busyness but they're up again. It has you upload a dxdiag log. That's a first for me. Even WoW beta signups didn't have you do that.

I bent my age a little, you know, an extra 4 or so years

If I get in, which is doubtful, I'll dole it out, due to the fact that I'm donating my computer to the Smithsonian.

I might look into it... Struck out on the WoW Beta so far, so maybe I'd have a shot here.

Plus I meet the recommended requirements so that's not a problem.

Kefka: EA published The Sims, yes - and who makes most of the profit?

Well, if I get to participate in beta and it turns out good, I'll play.

Bah, Final Fantasy...

But really, if EQII turns out alright, it would be cooler than cool if I had a friend ingame with me .

Seeing as how I am still very much involved in Final Fantasy XI, I may have Silvershield check it out first, if he does indeed sign up for beta.

Make it good, SS.

I still don't think it sucks, but the newbie-friendly (read "incompetence-friendly") additions that have been made in recent times are annoying and jealousy-inducing. Hell, if my Sense Heading were 200 at level 1, I wouldn't have died so many times after getting lost in the wilderness!

I've never participated in a beta before, but EverQuest II looks absolutely ridiculous. The graphics, for one thing, will make the average computer explode. I barely hit the required specs in some places, though I think that I'll be able to manage after turning down all the extras a bit.

I don't know what my system has got for anything like processor. I'll ask my brother next time I see him.

If I can, I'm gonna sign up for the beta test.

I thought Maxis developed the Sims, and EA just published it

Sony certainly made quite a profit on it with all the expansions though.

Let me clarify on the EQ suckage statement.

It didn't suck at first. It was awesome and groundbreaking I suppose. But it started to suck....through...attrition or something due to other MMORPG's coming out over time.

IMO, Everquest didn't suck

But I'll probably be getting Dark and Light before this title

I'll sign up for the hell of it anyway =D
