Robotech is an attempt by an American (Carl somebody I think) to splice together 3 seperate anime that really have nothing in common, into one cohesive whole. You can see evidence of this in the way Miria's and Max's daughter has Green hair as a baby, but blonde hair as a [spunky and annoying] adult. That, and the mood and style of each anime is markedly different. Macross more romantic, Robotech Masters (SD Souther Cross?) catastrophic, though Robotech wouldn't clue you in on that, and I've only seen 4 eps of the last anime, but it seems sort of weird.

It's the name of the first ever series of Macross.

Robotech is the americanised version of Macross. By today's standards, this sort of editing would be considered butchery, but it was partly because of Robotech that anime has been so successful in the west. Think of it as a crude pioneer.

What is Super Dimension Fortress Macross? It sounds like a toy.

Robotech is ok. I know it's not a perfect representation of Super Dimension Fortress Macross, but it's all I could get my hands on.
As long as you know the differences between the two, it's well worth buying Robotech if you can't get SDF Macross.

I've never seen Southern Cross, but I have a Palladium Games book entitled "Southern Cross" its a supplement to their "Macross" game.

Robotech = Bad. Macross = Good.

Has anyone watched Macross, Southern Cross, and Genesis Climber Mospeada in a marathon? God, that rocks!

All I know is that it says Macross. Screw it, the hard dirve is nearly empty, I'll record them for the hell of it.

All it has is Macross Ep.1, Ep. 2, Ep. 3, Ep. 4. And each is an hour long.

I have Macross Plus, 7, and Robotech seasons 1 & 3(the 2nd one sucked ass). I first saw Robotech back when I was 10 years old. Great anime. It was my favorite at the time and I cried when they(toonami) took it off the air. Then my bro bought the dvds for my birthday two years ago.

Hmmm. I have a chance to record episodes 1-4 of Macross on the Action Channel tomorrow. Is it worth the hard drive space on TiVo?

I bought Robotech: The Macross Saga the other day, and since then I've been immersing myself in the history of the Macross universe.
I am fully aware that Robotech doesn't actually follow the story followed in Super Dimension Fortress Macross, but I was lucky enough to find Robotech as it was. Extremely lucky.

My first encounter with Macross was Macross Plus. I watched it all as soon as I bought it, and I thought it was incredible. Unfortunately, apart from Macross Plus and Macross II, there's nothing else on release in the UK.

My anime shopping list is adding up nicely. Currently present is Macross 7 (49 episodes) and Macross Zero (three out of five OAVs planned, still in development) as well as as much Ranma 1/2 as I can afford.

That'll cost me at least
