I won't go into why i can't get the drivers from windows update..
BUT I got it working.. i forgot to disable my onboard sound in bios.. heh.. |

Creative has the worst drivers and I really recommend the ones from Windows Update...
Make sure you have SP1 and all other critical updates installed, then either grab the driver off Windows Update, or go to http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/ to grab the right one for your card.
Do other sounds play (IE: Windows beep)? If so, try selecting another output device in Winamp.
Edit: Oh, this is important too:
Did you disable your onboard sound in the BIOS when you popped the PCI card in? If not they will have an IRQ conflict and neither will work. What is the make of your mobo? The MFG website WILL have drivers for it. If it's an nForce2 board with onboard audio (no matter which codec), the nVidia nForce driver pack will install it for you. Make sure you DL mobo drivers if you have an nForce2 or VIA mobo, it will make it a fuckton faster than the MS default drivers. |

Well.. I just installed Winamp.. and guess what? I have no sound!
XP Pro didn't detect my onboard sound and thus no sound.
I threw in my Sound Blaster PCI 16 card and xp didn't autoconfig the bugger..
If anyone can help me find some drivers PLEASE let me know.. music is my life..

Found the driver but it just simply says it cannot find any Sound Blaster Audio Devices.. fun. |
