heh, the smb3 rock is out of place for a reason and it will be shown when I release this hack. But I still might remove it and save it for what im planning for it later >.> <.<
Edit: And don't expect this to be out FOR A LONG TIME. I don't even have 1 level done and I'm taking time on everything I do. Not to mention I work 32hrs/wk and a freshman in college, so its hard to actually find free time to do this type of thing.

Anywho I don't know how to utilize exGfx in the OW, right now I've just been replacing gfx that I won't be using (like bowser's rock head thing). Could someone help me with the exgfx? Also I've played around with the grass gfx but can't make a good looking grass type of feel. Could someone else help me with that bit maybe?

No offense pal, but I've played your hack, and what you even got started on your overworld is definetly nowhere near the looks of this. You're just probably jealous or something. And besides, every hacker has their own way of doing things, which is a good thing. Just THINK about it. If all the hacks were the way YOU wanted them, they'd get boring and repetitive so fast. Although I can level with you on issues such as glitched sprites, ugly palletes and crap like that, but being as nitpicky as that just isn't necessary.

My comments on the overworld now? Excellent. The only thing I can find wrong is the green stone, unless you plan to reveal a level tile on it and have it be a grassy/rock level.

I wasn't too wed to the volcano idea. Thought it'd be cool, and someone else agreed. Yea.

Anyways... yep, keeps looking better every time. The SMB3 rock graphic in the upper-left kinda looks out of place, though. And the northeastern iceberg looks really out of place, perspective-wise... it's kind of hard to explain, so I'll just assume you understand what I mean. I'd recommend deleting it. x_X And still... a lot of green, but you have to really suit the OW to match the general themes of your levels. Idunno what you're planning on, so I can't really suggest anything.

Chocolate Island couldnt form naturally either, yoshi's island is a bit of a stretch too. In fact a lot of SMW is unnatural

Since when did SMW strictly adhere to nature? Personally, something new and fresh isn't bad, when done well. I see nothing about this overworld that seems like it was done wrong, which is definitely a step in the direction of being done well.

But if you look closely, youll see that there is an iceburg blocking any waves from coming in

That rock up north, needs to be flipped, shadows dont line up correctly. And the grass looks a little.... "bland".... I dunno how to fix though.

Overall... EXCELLENT JOB! Keep it up!

In your latest screenshot it kinda looks unnatural for there to not be waves directly above the ice part, seeing as how there are waves everywhere else...

That last shot looks *very* nice. If you really want to branch out and set your overworld different from all the rest, use some ExGFX. I can guarantee that it will make your overworld look 20 times better if you utilize it correctly. It doesn't even really have to be a big change, even small edits here and there could help.

Just a thought.

Rounded edges are back thanks to edited gfx and and a simple pallete 'trick'

Also a few other aditions (more to come still though). But, sorry to say there won't be a volcano (unless I keep that for bowser's sections >.> <.< )
Green colors are a bit too bright so I will most likely toning those down.

Now to get ready for work since I'll be there till 11pm

Nicely done! I wish my overworld was that cool...

Great job! Just make sure your hack isn't about good overworld and bad levels.

Haha (heh, haha as in laughing not you name), you are all about a volcano. I know a few things about exgfx, but I havn't messed around with it for overworld purposes. If I learned how (may need some pointers), I can work on it

In other news I updated the second picture (the evil one) on the first page. Might need refreshing. Just got the point out I hate it

i just got back from messing around with it some more and better results. *waves wand* *POOF*

Heh, forgot to disable sprites (they are in random locations right now so where they lay is not where they'll be.

As you can see I also got rid of that funky area where it supposably sloped up so mario can walk up. I will just have him climb up instead
the top areas have been leveled to the same height and connected properly.
I mainly miss some of my rounded edges i had to sacrafice :'(

I use a sort of teal color for my main OV...let's see here:

Mmkay...the from lightest teal color to darkest:

#1: Hue: 103
Sat: 147
Lum: 117

#2: Hue: 100
Sat: 129
Lum: 98

#3: Hue: 109
Sat: 126
Lum: 79

There you go. Maybe those colors will work...and I love your OV design. You've inspired me for yet another attempt at a SM:CIA 2 OV...yay.

heh, lucky for me I didn't save changes to the pallette. SCORE

and yeah I was thinking of just a darker form of green. Seems to be the best idea

You might try just a darker shade of green instead of yellow. Any variety helps, it doesn't have to be radical.

the yellow is an expirment. the more i look at it, the more i hate it. I think i might stick with all green or play with colors some more
