Glad you liked it, SNN.

I've decided that I'm going to use a few new types of levels, too. Which, I won't tell you... but trust me, they CAN be done using SMW's GFX. (Not like the graphics matter, I could easily have made this same hack in SMAS graphics.)

Freezing water . . so cold that it's fatal to touch. Now why didn't I think of that?

I figured your lava might be blue or something, so it would fit the theme of the castle. But since you decided to change the lava completely, it should look a lot better now

EDIT: Ok, I just played it. It's sweet. But I do have a few bugs/suggestions to point out.

1. Why did you use so many time berries in the first level? This isn't the problem though - as you're eating them, they flash the default colour (green)
2. The Thwomps head at the beginning of Frozen Fortress is cut off.
3. Same goes with the spring board just past the lava - its a bit cut off
4. Is there supposed to be an invisible row of blocks above the ball'n'chain? Because I can jump right on top of them and run along the whole level - plus, I get stuck in the ground in certain points.
5. In the area with the 4 ball'n'chains, one of them always gets cut off. You might not want to have so many on the screen at once - I know it's only 3, but it's still considered a lot

Those are all the bugs I found. . comment time!

1. Awesome work in the first level finding the brown blocks. It was slippery, so it was tough.
2. Nice ending of the fort
3. All in all, the level design rocked, levels were long and fun

Awesome work - please make more!

I'll try this when I get home later tonight, and post any glitches, bug reports, or stuff like that

Heh... That's what I was thinking, Zachio... but I also saw it from Tatrion's point of view

The lava was red, like normal x_X I've replaced it with freezing water, instead.

What about the blue fire from ocarina of time? It melts hot ice And it's described as a "cool flame"... but meh, this isn't Hyrule

....I guess the blue flame idea is completely out then

"removes flame from level"

Well, there goes my OMG sweet ice fortress

Actually SoNotNormal, blue flames are flames that are hotter than usual.

...wtf? Blank post?

Sorry about that XD

Anyway, SNN... there's lava earlier in the castle than I took the screenshot. It kinda conflicts, too... now that I think about it

I only have two levels done, but I released it this early to know whether or not to move the ice world back a bit.

That's not LAVA though, it's flames But I get what you mean now, thanks for clarifying that with me. By the way, how many levels of that demo are done, I can't play it right now since I'm not home, but is it just Frozen Isle that's done?

Even blue flames would melt ice, actually...

I'm also considering changing that lava. I can't believe I never noticed that before.

Sweet! I like it! The OW is my favorite part by far. In an hour or two, I'll post my 6 submaps, and see what people think of them. Nice work. Couldn't you change the palettes of the candles in the fortress to blue instead of red?

1.Looks pretty good, at least it's not square.
2. Nothing special, I like the use of the Icy blue pipes and blocks.
3. Meh, nothing interesting.
4. Looks pretty cool, I like your use of those spikes. with a few palette changes, you could make them frozen, too.

overall: 7/10, I'm not going to play it because, personally, I don't like to play short demos. The shortest Demo I'd play is 3 worlds.

I played the demo and they're fairly difficult. Still pretty solid though. Then again, the only reason they're fairly difficult is because I'm a total n00b

I always thought it'd be cool to see a world that's split in half. Y'know, has one half fire, and one half ice. Dunno how hard that'd be to do though, since I'm only an end-player and don't *really* have much experience with the editor...

Good hack, though. The first level was great, but the castle seemed... a little short. To me anyway. But hey, it's an early demo, so I'm not gonna complain.

Don't worry, Spade, it doesn't bother me if people point out things they don't like...

...unless they're going to tell me to fix it without the slightest idea on what to change it to. Don't worry, though, I have an idea if it bothers enough people.

Ice levels aren't too hard once you figure out the traction to them, really... I'm guessing that's why I never have as much trouble on them as others seem to.

I personally would say no, because a game should start with easy levels and the ice levels should come later in the game.
But I don't think that really matters, 'cause I think we all played enough hacks to be good enough to beat them. And it really looks good. But I think that the barrier on the bottom left screen (made out of the standart ledge) looks kinda strange.
I only mention negative points because my post would be too long when I write down all positive ones. So don't take it offensive, I like it. Really

Ice levels don't have to be difficult.

Screens look nice! I don't think there is a problem with an Ice World being the first although most games and hacks seem to start off with easy worlds like a grass world or something. I personally think using no ExGFX is a good idea. All you need is your imagination to create unique looking levels. (Although I am using ExGFX in my OW on my hack). I'll try this one out.

Anyway, I'll probably try this out later. The screens look okay, but why aren't you using any ExGFX?

It was originally an attempt at one of kristopher_pearman's challenges to make a hack without ExGFX, which I started back in January.

I recently picked the hack back up, however, and am only using ExGFX to expand upon SMW's default GFX. (for example, having vertical slopes in switch palaces, and thin pipes in caves.)

I may do a GFX hacked version in the future, but my primary aim with this hack is to provide some solid levels to play through.
This is a long thread. Click here to view it.
