Think of it like this, GP.

No one posting = no incredibly stupid/rude requests for impossible hacks.

Every post your sig loudly announces how much better it is than this one, and not even you bother to post in it? Better, indeed.

I'd much rather have a properly working sprite than a glitched one that requires ExGFX and can potentially mess up other sprites.

If there was any chance of a new LM release, I'd even ask Fu to implement this fix.

So you posted how much this board frusterates you, then you create a new SMW board, and then continue to post things here but not at Lunar Utopia. Okay, whatever.
If it makes any difference, I plan on creating one sticky thread with all my hacks/fixes at LU...I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Anyway, muchly appreciated. Fish-bottomed piranha plants suck.

Finally, someone makes the pirahna plant GFX. Thanks a lot. This should be a big help, and now I won't have to use annoying jumping pirahnas anymore

How coincidental is it that this came up just before I started my Forest/Swamp world.
THANK YOU! I will dedicate a whole level on pirhana plants and fish.

Yes, but now, you can have both a Cheep-Cheep and a Pirhana Plant in the same level without doing something horribly creative with the tiles like I have done. Even so, making it look right was truly an accident. And as an added bonus, the potential rare glitching with Pirhana Plants is fixed.

Cool! I have already fixed the piranha plants in one of my hacks using ExGFX but this is much better!
Good job!

Yep...I finally sat down and traced through the piranha plant's code, and figured out why the "classic" upright version uses the wrong tile and palette for its leaves. Apparently, a small snippet of code that Nintendo added to fix the upside-down plant's palette and GFX page is incompatible with the upright plant's swapped sprites, and attempts to fix the NEXT sprite in memory! If an upright plant happens to be the last sprite processed, and you have a screen full of sprites, this could potentially cause glitches (though this is probably very rare).

Anyway, I've patched the offending routine, so it now checks the sprite number and adjusts the palette/GFX page accordingly:

piranhafix.zip

Be sure to check the README for more info on changing the sprite's GFX page. Enjoy!
