The death problem is my fault...The problem was the way I did BP, If I could go back I would set up the events differently and dying would simply put you back at the start.

no problem

I did notice that after I had gotten Robo I could access it. But otherwise it's a good thing. M y only other gripe is that if you die in it, you die and the game restarts. But this can be worked around by using save states at the selection screens without having to worry that you have to redo a good section of your game.

-So in short.......wtf happened?

I had to replace a permanant memory spot for the Coliseum. I decided to replace the spot in memory that stores the number of innocents at the trial. The memory spot tells the game where to load your characters,

if 7F0052==0 Load first room.....if it equals 1 load second room, if it equals 3 load third room.

Because I was doing an "add-on" I had to do it this way (can't make my own memory). There's three ways to get it reset to 0

Recruit Robo (this is the automatic way, I now realize I should do it earlier)
Talk to the NPC that was added (he was added for this specific case)
Tell Bekkler you don't want to fight anymore (how you did it)

The Coliseum is not open until you get the "character select screen" at the end of time, this is because you'd be able to change your party when your not supposed to otherwise.

Finally, I will move the auto reset of the memory to when you talk to Johnny instead of Robo, thanks for catching this bug.

I had a weird glitch (?) with this.

I got through LAB32 by racing, went to the coliseum/colosseum and my team suddenly runs up, over a couple walls and is in a room. It asks me to start Round 4. No clue what's going on at this point, I do it, beat it, and then it asks about 5. I say to quit, exit. Now I'm outside the coliseum/colosseum and when I go back in they say their "nearly ready come back later" or somthing to that effect.

So in short.......wtf happened?

[EDIT]

Also, in Proto Dome before Robo there's just some guy standing there, looks like a survivor ...but he doesn't say anything! You talk to him and it's a blank popup.

I hate to nitpick, but it's spelt Colosseum, not Coliseum. ;
I wouldn't be so sure; apparently, both are acceptable.

From Dictionary.com (since I don't HAVE a dictionary at home...)

Variant of coliseum.

I'll have to try this soon. I have work in less than an hour, but maybe after I get off.

Must be an american thing..because I know that colosseum is the preferred spelling used outside of the US. (I would assume that's why most companies use that particular spelling for their games, anyhow)

Well, I guess I'll stop hijacking this topic now.

This is basically a repeat of my post from the Compendium forums, so if you've already read it there, I apologize.

I'm looking for advice on finishing the final battle of the Hard track (2 Pink Nu Spekkios). My party is Chrono/Marle/Robo for Lifeline security. I do fairly well in the beginning because the two spekkios are right in sync with each other, making the successful pattern of combat Hallation x2, Cure Touch (Marle+Robo Dual Tech), Luminaire by Crono, two random attacks by my pink friends, repeat to Hallation and mix in Crono on Ethers until dead.

This sounds great in theory until Salt is used, "desynching" them. Then I get Hallation, Cure Touch, Hallation + attack (no chance to get in anything in between)....Lifeline! Then Hallation, Megalixir, Hallation + attack combo...dead. I suppose I could survive by spamming Lifeline, but this doesn't provide me an opportunity to attack.

Any advice for beating it, or should I repeat the fight / manipulate luck to avoid Salt?

Wow, this is amazing. I wish I knew how to put this onto a cart - I guess I'll just have to stick with zsnes, because I don't have a clue how to do that. I'll probably play back through Chrono Trigger soon, because of this.

the "A" is gone in the config, when I was re-assigning keys as I always do.

Small update. The prize for the Heir tot he Masamune contest is now some artwork from CuteLucca, the preeminent Chrono Trigger fanart artist. It'll be given in December, though.

FOREWORD: You guys are a bit more intelligible about this stuff than most forumites I post to, so in case you want to skip the stuff I post elsewhere, skip to the bottom. Don't miss the contest notes, though.

The latest Chrono Trigger modification and by far, the most original and inventive, the Chrono Trigger Coliseum has been released by JP and Cory. The Coliseum, a battle arena located in 2300 A.D., allows players and fans of the game to spend time battling three different ladders of monsters to gain experience and "battle points," which can be redeemed in the arena for good prizes. Three modes of difficulty are available -- easy, medium, and hard -- and each ladder can be tried with both a full paty or a single member. You read correctly; you can solo these ladders, choosing a single party member at will to fight -- even Magus! The action spans three rooms, each utilizing a pulse-pounding battle theme to set the mood. Each set of monsters consists of seven battles, each harder than the first. The hard difficulty is particularly difficult, though the battle point rewards are much higher. Additionally, to support the needs of earnest fighters in the coliseum, a shop and kitchen exist.

The Chrono Trigger Coliseum is nearly flawlessly integrated with the main game, meaning you can play a normal game of Chrono Trigger without any noticeable changes aside from the Coliseum itself. You can visit any time after the Factory dungeon is cleared to pick up items and test your skills; a substantial prize awaits for those who can beat the hard difficulties with party and solo modes! The perfect place to test your might, the Coliseum offers a new challenge to old veterans and breathes new life into the renowned battle system of Chrono Trigger. It is also arguably the most complicated event hack of the game to date, serving as indisputable proof that the Temporal Flux editor indeed has unlocked countless opportunities for reshaping the game. Rounding out the experience of Trigger with a battle arena, it is one of the most unique RPG modifications to date, and will endure long hours of skill testing and might building.

Before you download the hack, we have good news: the Chrono Compendium is hosting a competition to see who can beat both party and solo modes on the hard difficulty first! The competition is called 'Heir to the Masamune'; if you're eager to play through the Coliseum, waste no time and try the Hard difficulty! If you think you can take it, enter in the contest and compete to become the 'Heir'! Only ZSNES and extreme determination are needed! You can find all the details at http://www.chronocompendium.com/Term/Heir_to_the_Masamune ! The winner will receive a special forum rank on the Compendium, and will be posted on the contest page henceforth! Additionally, after the Heir is chosen, other entrants who beat Hard on both Party and Solo modes will be judged by their time and level to be posted on two scoreboards. This means that even if you miss obtaining the title of 'Heir', you can still do a better performance by beating hard with lower levels than he or she did, or beating it with a faster time. Start your engines!

Before you download, PLEASE make a note to read the readme, as important information is contained within. Also, don't miss the contest! We will find the true hero! Now, sate your battling desires, and good luck!
