Maybe I am just using the wrong tools.
I can see stuff like this in FCEUXD LDA $20 ;this address contains the buttons pressed AND #%01000000 ;tests if B button is pressed BNE bdash ;branches with 2 bytes only (1 byte address)=good! LDA #$01 ;normal speed STA $34 ;use this speed to walk But I don't know how to edit there.
I have no problem using Hex editors (Translhexion) but the way I have been editing is in hex, and doesn't show the code in the ASM format shown above.
Any Don Killmi if you are willing to help me get started that would be awesome. |

Yeah, some people (like me) screw up horribly in hex editors.

I followed the battle extension and all I got was a dead screen everytime a battle started |

Ooh, if only I had Paypal. Seriously, this stuff is all pretty easy if you read the docs. |

Not to be an ass or anything, but the documents are well known, what's the technical difficulty in doing it? It will not take more than 15 mins. of your time... - The code for extended battle bg and 5-letter character names can be found on the final facelift docs. You can even use them as a starting point. - B button dash functionality is really simple. See the Final Fantasy Hacking related thread. - There are already many "mini patches" for FF1. See Disch's animated water tile hack, or his item shop enhancer (which has saved me days of life, i believe) for examples. If you have any difficulty doing any of this, just ask here, and i will help you. And no offense, but most of us here do it for the fun.

Sorry if this is newbie stuff. I have been doing some hex hacking (mostly for colors and text, as shown in my hacks: http://jordanbieber.proboards38.com/index.cgi?board=classicgames I am looking at some ASM stuff but for whatever reason accessing this code and inserting it into ROMs goes over my head.
I have a request for some Final Fantasy feature hacks which I have found before and have seen ASM coing for on this board but haven't been able to recreate myself (given limited time). So anyhow, here is my request: Does anyone have hacks (probably in ips form) for Final Fantasy (U).nes for- 1) Full Support for 5 letter character names 2) B button dash (as in the remakes) 3) extended battle backgrounds
The ASM hacks for these are on this board (in the FF thread). I don't want to be another leech making a request for people to share their work, so if you want, $10 US via paypal to the first person who can get me an .ips with these.
(Not suggesting your time is worth $10, just sounds like for some people it would just be a matter of sending an email) |
