Believe me, if you spent two years with a fruity French teacher in high school who daily liked to make puns in French, in English, and even cross-linguistically, you'd fucking scream bloody murder on puns. |

The difference between me and you, Jiggly, is that you actually posted that. |

that book really doesn't help , as you need to have initution to understand what an assembly instruction realy means in the context of where it appears along with knowing what it is doing.
for example, you could see addiu $t1, $t1, $2 in ASM but what are you really adding together? It could be exp you gained from a battle, money you just found, items you just bought, etc. unless you know what the other code around you is doing, you have very little chance of doing any real good ASM hacking.

It's changing the way the game runs...
It's assembly...
And it's not easy to learn if you don't know a damned thing about programming. |

The simple explanation: Reprogramming the game. |

basically it's changing the game's instructions it's different from level or graphics hacking in that you're actually changing how the game works and not just the data that the game reads |

Not really SMW-specific...

ASM is a machine language (assembly) using to program and alter the code in a ROM for example ... the type of ASM you need to learn depends on the processor. For NES it's 6502 and for SNES 65816 for example. For hacking SMW or a game with has a finished level editor you don't need ro know ASM at all ... but for further changes like Mario's height or disabling spin jump for example you'd need to know that programming language |

i would try to tell you but I think I always scare everyone away from doing it by giving too many details. |
