If there ever is one, I guarantee you'll hear about it here first.

The reason it is closed and doesn't work is that it doesn't exist. That was an April Fool's joke.

I hope you have a back up of your brain, because it looks to me like you used a Corruptor on it there's a stick thread for editors. We already told you there is no SMW2 editor. deal with it.

Using HyperHacker's header info, I made and released a simple text interface level header editor, but that is not a big deal.

I used the info that Kenney3900 posted to make a *nix/GTK tool that could display sprite locations, drag them around, and save the changes to the ROM image. It used squares with numbers to show what and where sprites were. It was very buggy. The offset and number of sprites for level 1-1 was hardcoded into it. I no longer have it because I started to change the program and messed it up before making a copy.

Both of those and some other interesting docs were wiped out when the board DB was erased.(...or not, thanks to Chickenlump) The favorites list full of YI hacking threads that I made was also lost. I could not find much info on the object format, but a few claim to have all the data.

In addition to there being no editor, the move to create one seems to have gone cold. I have not seen any new tech docs or hack announcements lately.

It's not that we don't know where to find one, it's that there ISN'T one to find. There are no publicly available SMW2 editors. None. Not even 1.

But, there is TONS of info available on it. Almost everything you need to make a good hack, including levels. I've seen at least 2 really great demos of SMW2 hacks that had new levels, and were really challenging and great. (I'd point you to them, but their threads went kaput with the old board).

Here is a zip file I made, just for joo. It contains all the publicly known Yoshi's Island data.
Make good use of it with a hex editor, or perhaps you feel up to programming an editor with it?

Er, that reminds me, I know Lunarcompress has support of graphics in lufia 2, but do you suppose it would use a seperate format for maps, or most likely the same compression as for the graphics?

Edit: Forget I suggested anything, k?

for some reason i'm thinking CT was already tried by Fu's hand... *gavin grumbles about people..nm*

Here is a list of compressed graphics offsets and a poor attempt at describing them.
There's probably more, but I'm sure I have at least 90% of them, and 100% of the level graphics here.

If I make another game editor someday, it probably wouldn't be for a Mario game... it'd be nice to do something different.

And this is technically the wrong forum, so... *moves thread*.

Maybe if someone could tell me where the graphics are and how the game chooses which to load.

Well, I remember someone (I think HyperHacker) offered to make a YI editor based on information from various people like Kenny3900 and Iggy Koopa. I haven't heard of any progress though.

Well, I know I reccomended SMW2 to FuSo as a followup for Lunar Magic when he said he would be working on other things, but he said he was going to be working on non-hacking things... That's the only word I've heard in SMW2 hacking, actually.

Aren't there already one? I think I saw something about it before the board crash...

Edit: Wait a minute... WRONG FORUM.
