Wow, that's really messed up looking. I can't seem to duplicate your results with a no title ROM and Nester, so I can't explain it. Did you patch it onto an already modified ROM? There are some graphics there that I didn't draw. (I'm looking at the "x" beside the coins, which is outlined)

All I can tell you is to find a ROM with a title screen or try a different emulator. Sorry.

Well, I played the hack, and when I patched it to a no title screen ROM, the font looked wierd for the status bar. (I'm using the Nester Emulator)

Googie: Yeah, I used SMB Utility. I already figured out how to use sort area to shuffle the levels around. (Level 3-3 is based on 4-3, for instance) I'm starting to mess around with some new levels now.

Anyone know if it's possible to add another underwater level? I've seen other hacks that change water levels into castles or underground levels, so I guess it's just a value I need to change in a hex editor?

opten you're hack in SMB Utility selekt level and klik ''edit'' and select edit headher and klick ''attribute and select ''sea'' and klik ''back'' and seleckt ''in water'' and klik ''ok''

To change the attribute of a level (like make it ground, underground, castle, or water), go to Edit, select Edit Header, and change the Attribute setting.

Icegoom, I just noticed Bowser's 2 arm bands disappear when he crouches...

Haha, what I said wasn't so bad really... You've got some talent, but your hacks still have glaring flaws, I'd say.

Insane difficulty and new enemies with "misleading properties" are my main complaints, as I told you on my board... Also, his enemies just fit AND look better... But that doesn't mean you or your hacks suck.

No harm done, lol! I give anyone props who can draw in their hacks.

IceGoom: I took the time to open your hack with SMButility for ya, you have about 9 level left to play with without being glitched. Did you use SMBU or that other SMB editor? Cause in SMBU go into Sort Areas and you can push down what level you don't want. I hadda do that with a SMB hack me & other people are working on. These are the level that look fine in SMBU after I put back 8 worlds...

5-1, 5-2, 5-4, 6-1, 6-2, 6-3, 7-2, 8-1, 8-4.

I hope I was somewhat helpful to ya's, any other Q's slap me a PM.

Stifu: Thanx...

Oops! I'll edit that in right away.

I don't think the problem is with mirroring. There are two frames for Bowser climbing, and I just didn't properly connect the line in one frame.

I've considered lengthening the hack, but I probably wouldn't do the full eight worlds. I don't really like repeated levels. I also moved a lot of objects and enemies out of the later worlds into the earlier worlds so they wouldn't be so empty. (Especially 4-4) If you beat the game and use the B button to select a world after world 4, you're going to run into some glitched levels. (If I knew how to remove the option to select the later worlds, I would have) I probably have enough objects left to do two more worlds.

Icegoom, because you didn't edit the first post of your topic, I think many people are overlooking your updated patch...

This hack looks great! I'll play it later, I can't now... Those GFX are totally awesome! I hope this hack will live up to how it looks.

I saw this thread and played the hack when it first came out but had not had the time to comment until now. I must say I echo pretty much everyone else's sentiments, so I don't have anything new or incredibily insightful to add. That said, the hack is definetly visually pleasing and well thought out. I really really enjoy the Bowser character sprites, very cute . Well done all around it seems. Looking forward to more hacks from you.

Not sure... Gotta find out why this is happening (if possible), and exactly how the frames are different... Comparing left and right frames, side by side. Does this "wrong mirroring" also happen in the original SMB1 ? If so, you could just try to tweak the frame a bit to make it look fine on both sides...

By the way, I think the difficulty in your hack is fine... It's enjoyable to play, and I like all the new enemy sprites, they look good and replace the old ones quite well. That's why I thought I'd give you a hand. Googie can learn a bit from you...
However, your hack is a bit short. Do you plan to make it longer, or are you done with it ? It doesn't *have* to be longer though, of course... I guess making it shorter than SMB1 gives it a different feel, like the "war" between Bowser and Wario is a relatively short one... Blitz Krieg style.

Gecko, try downloading it here. If that doesn't work, recommend me a site you can download stuff from and I'll try uploading it there.

Stifu: Hmm... Looks like the lines don't quite connect on that frame. I guess I just need to add another pixel?

As I said, it only looks wrong when Bowser is facing the left side, weirdly...

See ?

Someone needs to tell me how to fix the problem, or upload the IPS patch somewhere else, because I cannot get anything from freewebs for some reason.
